Advice: Playing Harsk

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Hi Guys,

I thought I would share my leveling up of Harsk through Skinsaw Murders so far.

My Harsk (playing with Merisiel) through Burnt Offerings...

Dex: put my first skill point here.
Wisdom: put my second skill point here.
Examine "or bottom" card: put my first power feat here.
Card List: put it in allies.

Notes: Probably should have done blessings but we just love what allies can do for a game. If I had it to do over again, Harsk would have looked to the heavens:)

===

Then we moved onto Skinsaw Murders...

Hand Size 6: put my second power feat here.
Dex: put my third skill point here.
Card List: When the time comes, Harsk will probably do Blessings.

Notes: Previously, he was typically doing 2d8+5 (with a magic weapon). That was basically a 21 average. There are plenty of 13-15 monsters coming so the additional +1 in Dex seems wise. Plus, most of the other stats were throw-aways. I felt my only other realistic choice was Wisdom.

His deck to date:
W: Dagger +1, Light Crossbow, Longbow +1, Shock Longbow +1, Throwing Ax
A: Hide Armor of Fire Resistance
I: Masterwork Tools, Luckstone, Spyglass
A: Shalelu Andosana, Snake
B: Calistria, Erastil, Iomedae, Irori, Shelyn

Would love to hear how you guys have been leveling Harsk through Skinsaw Murders if you care to share.

Thanks,

Ben (and Abby)

Hi
Thanks for sharing your Harsk build.
Currently we have just completed Trouble in Sandpoint, 5 players:
Druid, Wizard, Rogue, Cleric, Ranger (me :-) )

My current Harsk build is as below

1st Skill = Dex
2st Skill = Wisdom
1st Power = Handsize 6 (I support the other guys a LOT. Often start my turn with only 2 or 3 cards)

Deck to date:
W: 2 Light Crossbow, Shock Longbow, Sling, Returning Throwing Axe +1
A: Elven Chain Shirt
I: Thieves Tools, Eyes of Eagle, Tomb of Knowledge
A: Father Zantus
B: Calistria, Desna, Erastil, 2 * Irori

Current path is going to be
3st Skill = Dex
4st Skill = Wisdom (Likely to get the Devine Spell Power in the Advanced build)

2nd Power = +1 to support ranged
3nd Power = +2 to support ranged

1st Card = Blessings 6 (Extra explores are good :-) )
2nd Card = Ally 2 (Extra explores are good :-) )
3rd Card = Item 4 - trying to balance up weak areas

Likely to go Sniper instead of Tracker as we have a Druid and he is grabbing all the animal allies :-)

No real advice from me, but I just want to say that Harsk is a beast! His ranged support is so useful in team play. =)

Don't remember what order I put them in, but here is my current build.

Skills
Str d6
Dex d8+1
Con d12
Int d6
Wis d6+1
Cha d4+1 I know. But you would not believe how many times a good Ally ended up in my location.

Powers
I put both checks into combat at another location. It has really helped.

Card List
Added a Blessing

Current Cards

Weapons - Allying Dart +1, Deathbane Light Crossbow +1, Heavy Crossbow, Returning Throwing Axe, Shock Longbow +1 Took me forever to get the Shock Longbow +1. You would not believe how many times it showed up at another location. I had it in my hand once, but lost it when we couldn't defeat Pillbug and had to reset the deck to before we played.
Armor - Magic Half-Plate
Items - Amulet of Life, Holy Candle, Masterwork Tools Love the Candle. The extra cards shuffled back into the Blessing Deck enabled us to defeat several Villains.
Allies - Shalelu Andosana
Blessings - 2 Erastil, 1 Sarenrae, 1 Shelyn, 1 Blessing of the Gods, 1 Torag I took 2 Erastils because I can recharge them instead of discarding.

Uh, care to explain how you can recharge a Blessing instead of discarding it? The only character that can do that while actually playing the card is Sajan. Unless you are talking about matching it to the top card of the Timer discard pile, but that isn't Erastil-specific.

I love Harsk, he is the reason my other characters in my 5 character solo game can explore with almost nothing, and still be ok against anything but the toughest combatants.

Also, ditto kysmartmans above question to Charles Scholz... are you just saying that you get Blessings of Erastils in the blessing deck a lot, and therefore can often recharge them, or are we missing something?

Sorry, I was combining my power to recharge while helping another at a different location with the card. I meant I can add 2 dice to my dexterity attack roll.
