Raised by a dragon. Halp?

Advice

So my group are starting the rise of the runelords adventure path, and I was wanting to play a bladebound magus. I'm pretty bad with background though, so I turned to the ultimate campaign generator....and this what I got.
My human magus was born to traveling merchants, who were killed by bandits when he was young. Then a gold dragon found the baby and raised the child. The gold dragon teaches the boy all all sorts of history, which coupled with the dragons outlook and his tragic past, lead the boy to become racially biased towards humans. He considers himself "enlightened."
He is chaotic good, and when the gold dragon dissappears he chases after it, leading him to the adventure hook. So my question is, how do I roleplay a racist good guy? Any ideas or suggestions?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

He could simply be very condescending towards humans - view them as stupid, primitive and violent, but still believe he has a responsibility to protect them because they're too dumb to do it themselves. So he would behave like an arrogant jerk a lot of the time, but still ultimately work for their safety.

And of course he might eventually overcome his bias. I played an elf who was convinced all humans were stupid, but eventually become friends with a human wizard who managed to convince him that humans were not all idiots (though he continued to maintain that most of them were!).

Have you ever watched Fairy Tail? Play him like Natsu.

I agree with corlindale (Hehe; fall from heaven) but the whole "protection" aspect seems a bit off since he's chaotic good. Maybe he can look at humans as animals, still traying to protect them but none of that "for their own good" stuff, that just seems too "palidin-like" to me.

I think my dog is pretty dumb but I love him to death. What if he thought humans were kind of adorable, bumbling, primitive savages? He would be like "Seriously, these humans are going to get themselves hurt or killed if someone responsible and awesome like myself doesn't step in. What would you oafs do without me around?"

Thanks for the speedy replies. I really like your guys ideas, because that is basically how I figured he would act. I figured he will probably have mixed feelings toward half humans, and probably doesn't like dwarves, but doesn't hate them. He gets along well with elves and respects good dragons immensely.
All in all I am pretty excited to play this character.

He sounds super interesting! I like the idea of a human who doesn't really think of himself as a human.

I knew someone like that in real life. Very brilliant and creative person. Endlessly frustrated though and frequently prone to dangerous levels of depression. I have no idea if he's still alive.
