It would be probably be wise to look at any date or time related statement by the devs through the filter of Valve Time.

Ok so we're past the end of the year. How did the revisit go and what is the new plan? I'm itching to see something playable with this game.
I am sure we will hear about it in a dev blog when they have something worked out. Pushing on them for it isn't really going to help with much. Software development almost never goes "by the plan" and it is even more rare with video game development.

Hrm, They're finishing Fighter and Rogue last they said. Next would be (ie proly around now) working on Wizard and Cleric.
I think they must get those all 4 in a basic shape before any extra Pit-Fighter Tool is on the cards.
Though I'm happy if "senior" backers get first dibs (and promptly report back!) if the capacity is limited initially for Pit-Fighter Tool.
It might be a good number of months however and possibly even just before alpha??

April 1st is in exactly twelve weeks. We also had an "update" on the Pit Fight tool back on April 1st, 2013. Thoughts on the Pit Fight demo...

I can understand your remark about going into the 3rd week of EE and asking questions about things like this, but we are not at that point yet…
My opinion is EE is still about 10 weeks if not more away. This was something I was looking forward to trying . All I want to know is that is this something that will be active over the summer or has it been scrapped.
GW doesn’t want to release system requirements, fine I was at least expecting this simulator to get a feel for how my system will run the game prior to getting to EE then finding out I need to upgrade it .
This should be a fairly straight forward question.. either yes we will put it out or no we don’t want to put resources because those resources are busy getting EE ready to roll and getting Alpha up and running.
So while I get that you may not be interested the response I still am…

This is probably the latest word:
We don't have a timeline yet for the combat arena. When we do, we'll share it.Unfortunately, it looks like it's probably not going to happen, at least not before Early Enrollment.
At which time there really isnt a point. Combat will get tested in game.

Not necessarily. Many people coming into this are new to PVP or reluctant. It would be nice if they had a way to try out PfO PVP in a non consequential way. Try some builds before they commit to them. Even if it is not the same as open world, "in game".

Turns out making the game was probably quicker than trying to cut down a pvp sim. I was prepared for a 2015 alpha, maybe an arena sim around now if it was that far off. Though I would have rather had the actual game earlier, than have part of the dev team bud off and make a community appeasement tool.
RSI was supposed to put out a combat sim last November, still hasn't happened. I think they released a teaser a few weeks ago.
I don't think these new crowd-funded games have released many dates that have been honored. GW has been the closest I've seen.
My rule of thumb, is if it comes out on time, something bad is going to happen, because things were rushed.

I don't think it's worth the effort at this point, unless it really is minimal effort. I'd much rather resources be used to bring in new features than a fake pvp simulator.
Agreed. Nothing fancy. However I think Keovar's idea could get us something fun with very minimal effort. Could even turn it to some form of lasting gladiatorial arena post game-launch.

If Thornkeep is CN, then that might be the sort of place which has a fighting pit that people place bets on.
