Inquisitor alignment question

Rules Questions

So, in the description for inquisitor it says they only answer to their god, and their own laws, and for ex inquisitor is says that they would have to become corrupt or change alignment.

So here is my question, there is a LN Inquisitor of Iomedae in a party I am running, and they just killed the boss from the Feast of Ravenmoore module. there has been a lot of talk of killing the rest of the villagers because they think everyone is a cultist. If they do it that will shift my inquisitors alignment right? How do you guys handle Inquisitors and alignment choices?

Depends. Does Iomedae believe in forgiveness, proof of guilt, or redemption? Would Iomedae require some effort be made to be certain that the villagers are actually evil, or would circumstantial evidence be enough? The Lawful in the guy's alignment, as an inquisitor, can be taken to mean following Iomedae's law instead of the local law.

PS - "Iomedae is the goddess of righteous valor, justice, and honor" so I'd say she'd be a bit iffy on the rampant destruction of townsfolk on simple suspicion. Now, if they are actually cultists then she'd probably be fine with torching them all and not really worrying about the whole 'forgiveness' thing... except maybe for the children as that wouldn't be exactly just.

The Inquisitor being lawful should search for proof of being cultists, not just put them to the torch. If the Inquisitor can find proof that an individual is a cultist then he can put them to the torch as justice for their crime. If the Inquisitor doesn't stop to think that some of the villagers might not be cultist and kills them all I would move his alignment to NN. If he realizes that that some might not be cultist and decides to kill them anyway I would move his alignment to either lawful evil or neutral evil.

Via the total elimination of alignment.
