Synthesist Summoner Movement Speed

Rules Questions

My friend is wondering, when the Synthesist Summoner has his Eidolon out, does the Summoner use his movement speed, or his Eidolon's?

Eidolon's.

However. "While fused with his eidolon, the synthesist can use all of his own abilities and gear, except for his armor."

So for example. If the character has levels of monk the Fast Movement would still apply. As would any other ability or gear, with the exception of any ability that is on his armor.

Uses every thing physical from the eidolon.

Scarab Sages

By RAW, the synthesist would use the summoner's base movement speed, modified by evolutions and class abilities.

RAI, I believe you should use the eidolon's base movement speed, modified by evolutions and class abilities.

Hmm interesting. So Synthesist Summoner/Dragon Disciple? The Eidolon would get all the stat bonuses as well?

I doubt that one, since the summoner's physical stats are replaces, and Dragon Disciple would effect the summoner, not the eidolon

Dragon Disciple is not a good dip for synthesist.

Think of Synthesist as a body sack similar to that seen on Borat (the movie). While in Synthesist form, your arms and legs do not stick out.

Movement rate = synthesists base speed + 10ft per legs evolution.

So assuming normal 30ft base speed a bipedal synthesist will have 40ft, quadruped will have 50ft etc.

This is by RAW.

Believe that was clarified to be a flavor option.

I know the faq says you can use your own natural attacks.

My point is that it is a class feature, and by the listed example with the increased movement, it would be as if your eidolon too levels in dragon deciple right? Otherwise you are required to use the Eidolon's base movement, which is especially different if your race is small and using the quadruped body, and your bodies speed is being modified not your eidolon's.

In both cases you have a class ability modifying your character's body. You really can't pick and choose which does and does not by current perpetrators.

P.S. I further believe that an eidolon SHOULD get a Dragon Disciple's bonus because of listed examples. If a summoner takes up a level in fighter, the Eidolon gets a base attack bonus. This seems like to me that there needs to be an added line of text in the rules to make clear the intent; "When multi-classing, treat bonuses granted by the other class to both the summoner and eidolon as if they are both taking levels in the class."
