Ultimate Campaign Brothel

So I was going though Ultimate Campaign to make a short list cheat sheet for the players in my game and I came across this.

The Arena states that it discounts the brothel however the brothel wasn't written into the book as such for the time being here are the stats for anyone who has that and not the kingmaker books

Brotherl 4BP 1Lot
Kingdom: Economy +1 Loyalty +2 Unrest +1
Limit Must be Adjacent to 1 house

A place to pay for companionship of any sort.

It was renamed to "Dance Hall" late in production. Some references are still to Brothel.

Shadow Lodge

I was wondering why having a Dance Hall would increase Unrest.

Dancing is the work of Devil, surely.

Scarab Sages

It is, if it's done right.

Huh? I thought that it is more of a demon thing... I am not exactly seeing Asmodeus dancing.

The Tango is totally a lawful evil dance.

Try reading Sławomir Mrożek play "Tango".

That makes sense but still being immune to diseases as a paladin I would still rather a brothel =p

{link}"Tango".

After watching "Dancing with the Avatars", you would have no doubt that the rules for judging the contest are clearly the result of hell's best rules lawyers implemented by three judges from realms that lost the last demonic war.

8^)

Dancehall music film clips can be very NSFW, I prefer UK Garage and Grime.

You're playing my music 8th!

"Must be adjacent to one house". That's going to be annoying to live next to. Wonder why they specified that, and not building/warehouse/palace/dive etc etc....

There is a Brothel in Ultimate Rulership. I highly recommend checking it out if you are interested in additional Kingdom building rules.

Clearly you've been devouring comedians again, Gorbacz. I got a good chuckle out of this.

You say annoying, I say convenient?

Edit: In all seriousness, a house is a huge district of residential buildings. It needs to be next to a house because it services those residents primarily.

Ah okay. So a "house" is a group-unit for the purposes of city mechanics. Understood. Is a "dance hall" then a red light district or is it a singular building?

Ah, that fills in a lot of holes I had. Like when the team's sections said Scofflaws were better prostitutes than laborers, I was like where is the brothel rules? Now I know.

Quote:
Population: A settlement's population is approximately equal to the number of completed lots within its districts × 250. A grid that has all 36 lots filled with buildings has a population of approximately 9,000.

So each building is a district with 250 people living in it. That includes the square with the brothel. It's really weird (to me, at least), but that is how it works.

Call it a red light district Whale_Cancer. Not everyone in that district works in the brothel, but lots provide logistical support to it, and to the customers who frequent it.

Now then, now then.

Let's keep it PG-13 in here.

I think it's still called a Brothel in the Kingmaker version of the Kingdom Building rules.

Yeah, because the softcover books have more wiggle room when it comes to earth-shatteringly shocking notions such as sex.

Be glad they at least became "dance halls." Back when White Wolf's Wraith: The Oblivion was under development, the first draft playtest preview--publicly released--had one of the Guilds of wraiths being the Harlot's Guild, with all of their wraithly powers done with sexy harlot stylings. By the time publication rolled around? The Harlots Guild had a reorganization to become the Usurers with a banking theme, because nothing's more sexy than an undead moneylender.

Was the mechanical effect the same? I recall the Usurers were the ones who could transfer Pathos & Corpus between Wraiths...

Mechanical effects unchanged, flavortext utterly rewritten, the Harlots trading in their garter belts and fishnets for the Usurers' green eyeshades and ledgers. And what was the trope of being kissed by a sexy ghost girl--which is in tons of folklore--got changed to making a deal with a spectral moneylender which...well, isn't in any folktales I've ever read, and I've read a lot of folktales.

I wasn't aware that the Three (plus one) Musketeers were wraithing their time usering things about...

Hehe. Every time I read the title I don't think "Ultimate-Campaign Brothel," but "Ultimate Campaign-Brothel."

Which requires a new subsystem to the downtime rules...

Now I want a brothel-centered Adventure Path.

With Belial and Fierna ultimately revealed as the ones behind it all, of course. Ah, the Book of Vile Darkness - one of my top ten 3.5e books :)

Clearly, you never played White Wolf's rather obscure Accountants: The Auditing.

Maybe it's the sequel to Dickens' Christmas Carol? With the undead Scrooge and Marley?

Like the Firefly episode....I think that would be a fun module.
