*Puts Bear on guard, keeping an eye out behind us.*

Sovereign Court

TD: This is a 10' wide solid metal door so it's pretty firmly attached. Does your anytool include a backhoe

Nope

Do I see anyway to prop them all open?

Sovereign Court

TD: It shouldn't be to hard, the doors do not slam shut. They close gently

Since AM HEALER is holding the door he opened he walks over and goes to open the third door.

Sovereign Court

Nasty: As you open the third door, you see what must be a 150' circular chamber. This chamber is filled with boiling hot water. However a sunken stone ledge projects out into the boiling lake. The corridor from the dungeon continues out into the lake under a rubbery magical forcefield that keeps the water out by forming an elastic skin of super surface-tension. The shape of the corridor is not square in cross-section, but rather semi-circular, as if a series a series of hoops were supporting the ceiling. The skin is soft, resilent and uncomfortably warm to the touch. Under any pressure it immediately becomes taut and any character unwise enough to puncture it with something sharp will leave a permanent hole letting in the scalding hot water.

Part 1 of 2

Sovereign Court

The skin will not "heal" once punctured. Major damage to the to the waterskin, as from a slash with a sword or axe or punctures from arrows will collapse the field like a balloon in

Spoiler:
You wish
rds.

After 50' the corridoor widens out into a low, dome-shaped area. Here lives the guardian, it is without a doubt the biggest crab anyone's ever seen. On one of it's forearms it wears a rune covered copper band.

Ok done

More seafood!!!

Boiling water? Giant crab?

Is anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?

I'll start melting some butter.

"We should get up top and fish....never fished from under the sea...."

Begins to hum under the sea.....

AM H's got crabs.

Uhhhh... Boiling it alive MIGHT not be the best option considering where else that water will end up...

"Wow that is the biggest meal I have ever seen. I am hungry."

He starts walking towards the crab.

"Oh boy this is going to taste good."

Turning to his stomach. "Hey Midgarde serpent are you ready for some good food?"

Sovereign Court

Nasty: The Crab in the bubble is 60' away, after 30' you will be walking on the strange rubberlike material. The crab cannot attack until you enter its bubble home.

Trap wishes he still had those metric tones of coco so that he could make all the water into hot chocolate for Nasty to drink.

He recalls the tale of the three brothers and begins to think about telling the story....

"I am coco for Choca crab !!!!!!!!!!!"

There you go, thinking with your stomach again.

Fires an Arrow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Possible Crit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Sovereign Court

Alissa: You pierce the crabs hard shell with your arrow

Looking back at her with a strange look. "what else should I be thinking with beside my stomach? I have to feed the Midgard Serpent in my belly."

Mind the arrows! You don't want to puncture these bubbles!

My devotion to Bashy, Lord of all Bludgeons, has prepared me for this moment.

Blunt objects, people!

Okay. Stinking cloud. Save DC 17. It smells like... Hmmm... Nasty's breath.

Sovereign Court

Crab Fort: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35

The crab laughs at your pathetic efforts and gets out his human crackers in anticipation of a wonderful meal.

I love these 1E monsters 15HD and 60 HP

"So am I not allowed to eat this crab either?"

"Go for it big nasty!"

"The serpent has to eat."

Scarab Sages

"Hmm...I remember seeing such a monster before, except that that one was already dead when I encountered it, and it even had the courtesy to tell me so and apologize."

+1 Heavy Crossbow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

if I miss, can I retrieve my bolt? High says I can: 1d100 ⇒ 4

Minimus Macabre stands at Tvashtri's hooves, its free arm outstretched and waiting...

It has readied touch of fatigue in case the crab comes near me

melee touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 DC 15 Fortitude save on hit

...while Wicked Weaver projects swirling bolts of magical power at the monster...

magic missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2, 1) + 3 = 7

...and the mechanisms in Agni's jaw and neck click, skitter, and reconfigure themselves ominously.

That would be it giving itself the benefits of gravity bow.

"Be very careful, team... I hit it pretty hard, and it shook it off as if it was nothing. Oh, and don't get in contact with that greenish-brown cloud of withering, noxious death over there."

Sovereign Court

TAK: The Xbow bolt misses and You do not want high: 1d100 ⇒ 7
bounces harmlessly off the crabs shell. The crab is confined to the bubble area so it will not come any closer.

Multi-Shot 1: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 1 = 17
Multi-Shot 2: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 10 + 1 = 18
Multi-Shot 3: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 10 + 1 = 18
Damage 1: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5
Damage 2: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6
Damage 3: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 = 12

Sovereign Court

Alissa: You do not want high: 1d100 ⇒ 89
1d100 ⇒ 6
1d100 ⇒ 58

All 3 arrows glance off the crabs hard shell, one however bounces off and pierces the bubble. Incredibly hot water starts pouring in.

1d6 ⇒ 5...you have 5 rds until its burny time

Everyone get out of the room and we'll let the doors close.

Nasty, all the hot crab soup you could ever ask for coming your way soon!

I leave. Unless the crab was wearing a clawring of fire immunity, this should be a cinch... And what are the chances of that?

I through a rock at it, then leave it to boil.

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
1d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

"Now I know how a lobster feels!"

Trap thinks and thinks of how to get out of this one....but being a kender of very little brain he thinks some more....

"Hate to burst a bubble!"

"Wait! How many of you have tanglefoot arrows?"

Sovereign Court

Alissa/Jenny: You can easily get out of the room.

AMH: Your rock hits exposing some sweet delicious crabmeat.

TD: Only 24 seconds left...What will our heroes do?

Run out like I was told to do and avoid the scalding hot water.

I set up one of those little chafing dishes for melted butter.

"I think we can patch the hole and get a perfectly cooked crab, what say we slow that hole down?"

Grabs a tanglefoot arrow.....

Sovereign Court

Nasty: You easily make it behind the still open steel door

AMH: Please add a little garlic in that for me

TD: You see the crab beginning to do the not so happy dance as the bottom of his feet are turning from a mottled gray to a reddish color.

18 seconds left...

Are the doors closing on their own, like they did before?

Sovereign Court

Alissa: They sure do, in fact they are designed to keep the hot water out of the rest of the dungeon...you know just in case

"Now THAT, my friend, is using your intellect! I fear I have no tanglefoot compound in any form or means of delivery, but I do have THIS!"

Before hoofing it out the door, Tvashtri whips out his trusty Traveler's Any-Tool, shaping it into a heavy anchor with a curious back end reminiscent of a crossbow bolt fletching. He loads it into Agni's bolt-launching, gravity bow-augmented maw, and primes Agni so as to be aiming onto the crab's broad backside. Agni fires the anchor-bolt, its magic amplifying its weight several times over.

Agni's ranged attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

I think you missed.

Sovereign Court

TAK: Oh boy: 1d100 ⇒ 85

Your anchor bounces of the hard shell and pierces the bubble again causing more wated to pour in.

You all have 6 seconds before the water reaches the door...

I use levitate so I don't get hot feet if the door gets flushed through before it can close.

"Guys? Probably time to go now."

"SO your plan is to die quicker?"

Trap fires off the first tanglefoot arrow hoping that it slows the water....

Shortbow attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10, Damage tangled goo!

Looking at Alissa. "Should I grab the Halfling and bring him back through the doors?"

Scarab Sages

"Oh dear. Well, my old mentor always encouraged me to 'take chances, get messy, and make mistakes....'" Tvashtri says as he dashes out of the room.

I'm already out the door melting the butter.

Sovereign Court

Our brave heroes close the door just before a wave of scalding water is about to not only burn them but drown them as well....Pssshheewww that was close

Looking anxiously at the door drool starts to puddle around his feet.

"So when can I open the door and go in to get the crab?"
