Awakened Gargoyle Barbarian?

Advice

Alright, so my DM has decided to take a chance and trust me with an awakened gargoyle. I was wondering if anyone could help me with some ideas on how to build him up as a barbarian. I'm currently looking into some rage powers and feats to equip him with and can use a little help considering I've never played a barbarian before (mostly sticking to spell casters).

Anyway I'd appreciate any advice you can suggest. Thanks in advance. ^ ^

Awakened Gargoyle? They're normally intelligent(int 6) so not a valid target for the Awaken spell if that is what you mean. (if you mean something else, i apologise.)

Awakened Gargoyle is the name of the race, supposedly from the scions of stone expansion. And from what I was able to gather they do take penalties to intelligence, wisdom and charisma, but make up for it in their strength, con, etc. and natural spell resistance.

Raging vitality is a close needs must for barbarians.
Spell sunder, come and get me, witch hunter, superstition, the entire beast totem line, strength surge, knockback, knockdown, ghost rager are all great rage powers. Of those the most commonly accepted powerful rage powers typically are superstition, come and get me, greater beast totem, and Strength surge.

Thanks I'll try those. ^ ^

You're better of with an ogre titan mauler.

I really had my heart on playing a gargoyle :/

It seems pretty straightforward and fairly powerful to me. The rage powers given by Grizzly are all excellent options. As for feats: power attack is required, any other combat feats are optional. It really depends on what you want to do. Do you want to fight with a weapon? Focus on your natural attacks? Sunder everything? Play an invulnerable rager with the come and get me rage power?

You could have a look at this guide to the barbarian for some ideas.

Also, your spell resistance is going to be annoying as hell, as anyone who wants to cast a buff spell or healing spell on you needs to overcome it, and it's doubled against divine spells. You cannot even choose to turn it off against divine spells. You can against arcane spells, but note that doing so is a standard action (so unpractical in combat). So if you ever want to get healed, you better make sure that there is someone in your party willing to use a wand of infernal healing (which a good aligned caster might not be). Otherwise, invest in use magic device yourself. Ability damage is going to be even worse: prepare to spend a lot of cash on scrolls of (lesser) restoration as your party diviner blows through them trying to get through your spell resistance, especially at higher levels as your spell resistance against divine spells goes up twice as fast as their check to overcome it.

Also, if you're screwed against spells anyway, that removes the 'double edged sword' feeling that people sometimes have regarding the superstitious rage power. Most people take it anyway as the benefits outweigh the downside for most people, but for you it's really a no-brainer.

Note: for anyone else wondering, the race he's planning to play is here

Thanks for the advice guys, I really appreciate it ^ ^
