Hey there,
I just started developing a web-app for my upcoming Kingmaker campaign, to be used from my tablet.
I have nothing to show off yet but I thought some of you might be interested in this.
Planned Features:
-Hexploration (blacked out map for the players to choose their path turning into the full map)
-Random Encounter and Hex Descriptions (let those to automatically be generated)
-Kingdom Bookkeeping (Ultimate Campaign [+ Ultimate Rulership (probably)])
-more not yet thought of
If you have any ideas of features you would like to see please feel free to tell me.
I'll keep you updated,
Eadric

Thanks, and have fun with it!

If you pull this off - I'd be a big fan. I also, like Jeremias, would pay
money! :)
I think you've got your work cut out for you!
From my point of view, I think the most helpful for me would be the Kingdom
bookkeeping aspect, with the others marginally less helpful.
If you're creating a random encounter helper, you might also want to build
a full initiative tracker keyed to those encounters...?
(I've looked for initiative trackers on the net & google apps, but IMO they
all suck at what I want them to do...) :(

Yes, of course. This will probably result in publishing the app without any datasets included. You guys will need to insert your own data.
I would pay you money for this.
No need to :D I'm mainly doing this for my self - I just thought there might be people who would like this too.

It would be helpful if you could explain this more to me. I never tried to use one of these and therefore don't know there capabilities.
What is it you want? Just a small thing where you can add and remove initiative values assigned to a name (in an ordered list)? Or is there more to it?

Well, the Hexploration aspect is my highest priority currently since I'll start a fresh kingmaker campaign next weekend. But I'll think that this is one of the easier modules to implement so it wound take that much thime.

Curious, is it possible to make the hexploration/map uncovering so that one could upload one's own map? I ask b/c in my game I've grown the scale significantly, and thus have added in a lot of extra area for the players to explore.
As far as initiative tracker- I use a custom page by encounter that has numbers form 30 to 1 where I jot everyone's initiative and the baddies. It also has some simple stat blocks for the baddies; hp, ac, saves, cmb/cmd, attack info, and notes. Could something like that be incorporated?
The suggestion of making the kingdom tracking available online is a wonderful idea. I know folks are working on a new spreadsheet with the updated rules from ultimate campaign - is there any way to marry this idea with that?

That is exactly what I have planed.

Surely, but hexploration and kingdom management have priority.

What is it you want? A printable output?

Big sky, I'd love a place on the web that represented the kingdom of the game I'm running, where players could go to see what are the current stats of the kingdom. The dream would be to have it set so that this kingdom page would be modified by either the GM or the GM and those players interested in the kingdom building aspect of the game, via a backend that handled all the rules calculations from River Run Red and Ultimate Campaign. Printable I don;t really care about if it's all avaialbel online in an easy to understand manner. Bonus for customizable art or art assets, so one could upload things like house banners, mottoes, pictures of the people in the various positions.
Regarding the map tool you are looking at building -- have you thought about Icons for the hex types, or various hex improvements? Basics are Forest, Plains, Hills, and Mountains, as well as farm, apiary, castle, road, settlement, capital, viaduct, ect. Reason I ask, is I've been working on a number of Icons for the game I run for these sorts of things. If you want to use them, let me know, happy to share!

Player/GM View is planned - banners, mottoes, etc would be bonus but probably doable.

As a fanatic civilization gamer I thought about that - sharing those icons would be great as it would take some workload off me.
I'm hoping to show off a little preview by the end of next week.

Hi Eadric,
Please be aware that I was just trying to make helpful suggestions,
rather than specifically request anything... :)
...but...in answer to your queries...
Re Initiative tracker. I just thought that if you're creating encounter
tables, it wouldn't be too hard (& I'm in no way, shape or form even
anywhere near capable of doing this myself...so take this with a pinch of
salt) to add in an initiative (or other) tool which pre-rolls say the
creatures 'stealth' &/or 'initiative' rolls, so that the person using
your tool has these auto populated & therefore ready to rock! :)
Have a look at some on-line initiative tools perhaps...but most of the ones
I've come accross (free only, as I've been unwilling to pay for something
when all of the others I've seen haven't been up to much) seem to want you
to input all of the party details each & every time you have an encounter.
This would be a massive pain & slow down the game...a lot. (Even my laminated
sheet with the PCs names & initiatives works better.)
Re Hexploration vs bookkeeping - just sayin. :) It's your tool, make it do
what you want it to & don't be minding me good sir!
Just so you know though - many groups find that hexploration only lasts
a short time, as the group gets bored of doing it after a couple of books.
However - Bookkeeping lasts a lot longer...unless you do kingdom in the
background...
Have fun with this either way you go! I'm constantly in awe of you dudes
(& dudettes) who have skills I don't & who create VERY COOL things that
you're willing for the rest of us to use.
Thanks!

I use TTopRPG virtual tabletop to run Kingmaker online over the skype because my party is scattered around :)
It's for PC or Mac using win emulator.
This is the best virtual tabletop I found (I tried a lot, lot of them), and most importantly, it's free. And have very, very ease learning curve.
You can also use it to help your GM-ing while playing on table. For the map purpose, fog of war, combat, initiative. Also you can easy make macros for rolls.
You just need two laptops. One for GM and one for the players.
I use TTopRPG, Skype and fillable automated pdf sheets for kingdom managment and army which I created.
Try it out even if you don't wanna use it. Just for the ideas what to implement in you app.
Good luck with you app
