Last year the Convocation only had one table of 12+. The year before we barely made a single table of 10-11, with two 9s (and did poorly as a result). If the tiers are separated, I have some doubts about multiple tables of each.
In any case,
I have a level 14 bard, who makes everyone better and can fill any role except heavy hitter.

Actually one of our members for our 12-13 table dropped.
I'm waiting to hear back from somebody else but we're looking for somebody fun, preferably a big buff front liner but we'll take personality over build any day.
Pygon - Cleric
BlazeJ - Cleric
Pirate Rob - Shadowdancer
Palmer - Alchemist
Painlord - Thorne, the Most Powerful Mage in all Absalom

I am aware of at least 4 planned tables of 12-13. I'm not sure that they have any room though.
PirateRob, I'm curious: Are you aware of any 14-15 tables and, if so, how many? Also, I've gotten the impression from your post that seats at the 12-13 tables have already been "claimed," yes? As this is my first PaizoCon, I'm also curious how one goes about "reserving" seats for a specific tier. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Just from this thread alone, I can see three players without groups looking to be seated at a 14-15 table.

Waaa? Did I agree to this?
And here I thought Thorne had dramatically retired.
Should I brush him off? Get the dust off? Update him to current? He hasn't played since he became a VC.

All I'm talking about are groups that have gone through the effort of premustering themselves into groups of 6 at a subtier to make mustering easier at the event.
I imagine some may end up not quite full and there will be plenty of tables formed on the spot.
Fortunately things worked themselves out in the end but after the bad service I had been getting from the hotel all day I almost walked out. I don't believe anybody else ran into trouble while mustering so I think it was me that had trouble.
While one of the things I really enjoy about PFS is getting to meet new people and game with them I'm expecting extra hecticness surrounding the special and want to have all my ducks in a row.

Okay. Now I understand, PirateRob. You're simply saying that one's odds of actually playing a specific sub-tier are greatly increased if one has a group of six players all willing and able to play that sub-tier together.
Another quick question for you (if you know, or anyone else, for that matter): With these 12+ sub-tiers, is it possible/permissible to play up or down (i.e. could a 15 level character play down in the 12-13 sub-tier, could a level 12 character play up in the 14-15 sub-tier, could a level 10 character play up in the 12-13 sub-tier, could a level 13 character play down in the 10-11 sub-tier, etc.)?
Pirate Rob |
Normally you can play up or down 1 subtier but the guide says:
Once characters reach 12th level, they may no longer play in tiered scenarios for levels 1–11, but they can play special Tier 12+ scenarios and events.
So a 12-15 could definitely play either 12-13 or 14-15.
A 10-11 could probably play in a 12-13,but I'm not sure if a 12-13 could play in a 10-11, the guide is a little vague.

I was really hoping they'd do a pre-registration for this. I found it very disorganized last year. If they did do a pre-reg then they could figure out how many tables of different tiers.
This would also help the GMs be prepared for the tier they are running. I know there will always be last minute changes, but pre-planning would help alleviate some of the scramble at the event.

. 10-11 can't play 12+ these r specially sanctioned for only 12 and up. Hints y u can only play the Eyes of Ten arch if u r 12th lvl. But a lvl 14 can play at a table of 12s though, it may be a bit over-powered.

Not necessarily true. Last year's special we had an 11th level player in the tier 12+ because our APL was still over 12. (That 11th level was balanced out by a couple of 13s).

I have four friends with level 15 characters. I know for sure that two of them are going to be playing in this, but I'm not certain about the other two.
[I'm assuming this is in reference to PaizoCon; if not, please disregard]
Fromper, if your two "uncertain" friends are definitely "out" and your two "for sure" friends are still hoping to play the 14-15 sub-tier at PaizoCon, but need four more players to field a table of six, please point them to 12+ Group for Con Special Still Needs a Few Players. Thanks.Fromper |

Umm.... no. The thread title says GenCon, and you seem to be the only one who has mentioned PaizoCon. I was talking about GenCon.

Exactly.
When I first replied to this thread, it was in the PaizoCon forum. The PaizoCon event to which it originally referred is listed in the events schedule as the GenCon Special. You'll pardon my confusion if I erroneously believed this thread was still referring to the GenCon Special being run at PaizoCon.

Yeah, I didn't realize this thread started in the PaizoCon subforum, which I never look at, since I'm not going to PaizoCon. I saw the thread in the PFS General Discussion subforum with GenCon in the title and no mention of PaizoCon until near the end of the thread, so I thought the whole thing was about GenCon.

Regarding the GenCon Special being run at PaizoCon
I have a lvl 14 barbarian that I'm lookin for a group to play with.
I have a level 15 Paladin I'm looking to play at Paizocon. Is the table full yet?
Wes and Tim, if you're still interested, there's still an open spot. Please go to this thread:

I'm looking for a group at Gen Con; Myrnall, the level 13 Halfling Summoner who rides his Eidolon and hits things with his +3 bane (evil outsiders) greatsword. I'm more than capable of being the tank, and my spell selection is designed with versatility in mind. Don't expect any offensive magic though.

I'm bringing my level 15 rogue/ftr. Survived the 15+ last year at level 12. Bout to s#@+ on this special this year. How do I request Kyle Baird as my GM. Would hate to be f+*+ed by a wind wall again. Hahaha
Well, I do recall taunting Kyle in-character tends to get his attention, but on the other hand, it leads to rather brutal results.
Poor Nikolai...
