Dwarf Forgemaster amount of Runes to inscribe

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I am about to begin playing a Forgemaster, which I like the class. However it seems it is limited on how many runes I can choose from. Also at first level is its very limited.

Is there a supplement or someplace that has more example rune that I can choose from?

Ideas on making up our own runes?

thanks

The options at 1st level are very limited for Forgemasters... they make up for that by getting access to Craft Magic Arms and Armor two levels sooner than anyone else.

you get one rune at 1st and another at 3rd...

The glyphs that are available are in the spoiler.... and they are pretty sad.

If I were playing one, I'd probably take Forgemaster's blessing for free temporary masterwork weapon, and Featherlight for armor if you ever find yourself needing to jump something, and there's no ranger to toss you.

brace yourself:

Ancient Splendor: The inscribed weapon, armor, or shield grants a +2 circumstance bonus on Diplomacy and Intimidate checks (+4 when interacting with dwarves).

Durability: The inscribed item's hardness increases by an amount equal to the forgemaster's Wisdom modifier, and its hit points increase by an amount equal to twice her level.

Featherlight: The inscribed item's weight is halved; a metal item's weight is reduced to 1/4 normal. If inscribed on a suit of armor, its armor check penalty for Acrobatics, Climb, and Jump checks is halved.

Forgemaster's Blessing: The inscribed nonmagical item functions as a masterwork item.

Glowglyph: The inscribed item sheds light as a torch. As a standard action, the bearer can command the rune to erupt in a burst of light as a shield with the blinding special ability with a burst radius of 5 feet per glowglyph rune inscribed on the item. This expends all glowglyph runes on the item.

Spellguard: The inscribed item gains spell resistance equal to 11 + her cleric level. This applies only to effects targeting the item itself.

Tracer: For as long as the rune lasts, the cleric may sense its location at will as a standard action, as if using locate object.

long story short, even though this is a lame list, I'd say forgemasters are one of the better archetypes to play at low levels because that is when you reap the benefits of early access.

Unfortunately, Paizo doesn't really revist older archetypes that introduce 'menu choice options', like Runes. So you're going to be set with that list unless you come up with your own.

If your GM allows 3pp, Little Red Goblin Games has a pretty good Runesmith class that you can find by searching here. It's the same concept as the Forgemaster, but instead of casting spells, they inscribe their spells as runes. So you don't choose from a list of runes like the forgemaster does. Your spells ARE the runes!
