Kitsune + Realistic Likeness

Rules Questions

Is Alter Self just as good as a Kitsune with the Realistic Likeness feat? I read somewhere that no spell can make you look exactly like a unique individual, but I can't find that text.

I'm trying to figure out if it's worthwhile for a caster kitsune to take the Realistic Likeness feat.

Also, would I be able to combine it with Disguise Self? For example, say I want to looking like a specific nobleman, but I don't have the nobleman's clothes, so I use Disguise Self to duplicate the clothes. Would that work?

Polymorph effects, including Alter Self, generally cannot be used to mimic specific individuals.

Unless otherwise noted, polymorph spells cannot be used to change into specific individuals. Although many of the fine details can be controlled, your appearance is always that of a generic member of that creature's type. Polymorph spells cannot be used to assume the form of a creature with a template or an advanced version of a creature.

Disguise Self could probably be used to handle the clothes, but I'd recommend Sleeves of Many Garments instead. Just 200gp, less than a Potion of Bull's Strength.

Ah, yeah, Realistic Likeness specifically overwrites the exact likeness clause. Glad you found it though, that's what I was looking for. I knew there was a clause somewhere.

And thanks for the Sleeves suggestion. Definitely gonna use that.

Realistic Likeness allows a kitsune to override the normal, "You can't appear as a specific individual" rule of most Polymorph effects. Now, there's something of a split opinion as to whether or not you can use Realistic Likeness to appear as a non-human humanoid, but the feat's flavor text seems to indicate that you're still limited to humans. Talk with your GM for his/her ruling, or make one yourself if you're the GM.

Yes, I was trying to confirm that Alter Self, unlike Realistic Likeness, can't be used to impersonate specific individuals, so Realistic Likeness is useful even if you have Alter Self. I guess my post was unclear.
