Ok, this is a little backward for me. With my group I have to make builds with some lasting power. We have sometimes had as many as 10 serious combats/encounters in a day. So going nova is usually not an option.
We are talking about trying something on the complete other end of the spectrum. Primarily 1 or 2 combat/encounters a day.
Never tried to build that, so I'm looking for suggestions. The 2 that obviously come to mind are the magus and the inquisitor. Since they have fewer spells each day and people already talk about how powerful they are when they go nova.
But what are some other good ideas?
(Btw: Summoners are not allowed. The group is already 6 PC's and we all agreed that would just slow things down to much.)

If third party is allowed, I'd look at Psionics Unleashed. There's great nova potential there, especially with quite a few powers that you can cast as immediate actions by pumping them with an excessive amount of power points.

Assuming that you plan to start at level 1, the magus is probably the best option for this sort of thing.
At higher levels, ranger does a good job of it. You only really need a couple of pearls of power in order to get your favoured enemy bonus on everything with instant enemy; also worth noting is that they can use a lesser metamagic rod to quicken named bullet as it's a level 3 spell for them.
Paladin has a nice "Smite all the things!" approach in this, while being able to sustain laying on hands every single round.
Ninjas can blow points from their ki pool every round to keep up with the full BAB classes in attacks per round.
Also, grab a Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier. You're not likely to be critted more than once a day in this sort of style, and it could save your life.

It will start at level 1. So it will be a long time before I can make any significant use of quicken spell. If it even lasts that long. Many of our campaigns don't really get much beyond mid levels.
I will check, but I doubt psionics will be allowed.
Should have mentioned, I won't usually play a straight barbarian or fighter. It's a fantasy setting. Gotta have my magic! So at least a hybrid if not full caster.

Drat! I'm moving to slow again. Someone else has already made and submitted an alchemist and a magus. I don't want to step on toes or overlap. So I will have to try something else.
Hmm... What about a channel specialized cleric.
If I take versatile channel. I can be using it to both hurt enemy and help allies.
Fast channel can be taken earlier than quicken spell.
Assimar with force channel.
Then take the alternate channel effects from the APG.
The damage and/or healing will be minor, but I could be hitting bad guys with a bad effect and allies with a good effect each round for a short while.
Then I always have buff, support, utility spells.
This is a first pass possibility
Assimar Cleric (channeling focus with support/buff spell casting secondary ability)
Str 11, Dex 12, Con 12, Wis 17(15+2), Cha 19(17+2)
1 Selective Channel
3 Versatile Channel
5 Force Channel
7 Quick Channel
9 Improved Force Channel
11 Greater Force Channel
13 Improved Channel
15 ?
Still need to pick a god, domains, and alternate channel effects. Any suggestions?
