Dust Form Question

Rules Questions

Sovereign Court

"Upon casting this spell, you keep your relative form, but you and your equipment become composed entirely of dust."

Okay, so how does water effect that individual then? Wind? What would happen if a player in dust form were to be caught in an air elemental's whirlwind attack? If they are dust, do they burn easier?

The spell says you are considered incorporeal, so I imagine any interaction would be exactly like it would be for an incorporeal creature.

I thought about that, but the description mentions squeezing into places and if you were truly incorporeal that wouldn't matter. I figured it means since you are dust, you just compress yourself to fit in to a tighter area.

I think its more that you are treated as incorporeal, the exceptions being your movement (which is limited to fitting through small spaces instead of moving through things) and physical attack damage (which is only 50% normal damage).

What would be the point of even saying you are treated as incorporeal if they meant you are not in any way treated as incorporeal?

The Dust Form spell is very badly worded. Depending on the interpretation, it might grant almost none of the benefits of being incorporeal.

  • You squeeze, meaning you can't pass through walls. (Makes sense, dust doesn't pass through walls.)
  • Magic attacks are unaffected. (Magic weapons & spells can hit you and deal full damage? Or is this just magic attacks you make? Clarify please!)
