Invisible blade = killing spree? a few ninja questions

Advice

This is my first time playing a ninja, I wanted to make sure I was doing it right

I spend a swift action to be invisible x my level i have 12 rounds. because I took the master trick I am under improved invisibility

I also have TWF I can make 4 attacks with out burning KI points.

Last night we got inot a fairly monster intensive battle 20+ bad guys. I was just running around the battle field TWF ing while invisible and guys were exploding like in Baldurs Gate.

To my understanding when invisible I have
+2 hit
My enemy has a 50% miss chance to hit me
They are denied there dex bonus enabling my sneak attack damage on every successful hit?

Is this correct? has a bad guy how do you counter this?
I am getting my info from :
HERE:

Unbound Steps/Light Steps feature:

Can I use this to run over the heads of enemies during battle to get to a enemy that is held on the other side of battle? can I do so with out provoking the AOO.

If you have Invisible Blade, you have greater insivisibility so yes... all your attacks will be sneak attacks, foes lose dex to AC and you get a small to hit bonus. The party arcanist could just cast Greater Invis on your every combat at that level anyway, though. So it's really not as powerful as you make it out to be.

Counters to invisible sneak attackers? Being immune to SA already certainly helps. Just having concealment causes sneak attacks to fail; rogue and ninja can be foiled by a simple level 1 no-save no-SR spell called Obscuring Mist. Uncanny Dodge outright 100% negates sneak attacking for invisibility. A fair amount of higher level monsters also have True Seeing or Blindsight, which foils invis. As does the low level See Invis spell. Glitterdust, if cast in an area you are in, negates your invisibility for its duration even if you save against the blindness.

If you are invisible, you have total concealment from your foes, so you can move around them w/o provoking.

Really, the best use of Invisible Blade is with ranged sneak attack. Melee you just need to flank anyway. Problem is needing to wait till level 10 for ranged SA to become viable...

yes that is correct, the blind-fight feat allows you to keep dexterity bonus, ignores the +2 to hit and allows rerolls on miss chance.

What if I am invisible and flankin will that negate blind sense p

BlindSIGHT. Blindsense does ****-all to prevent being sneak attacked.

And yes, if you are flanking, blindsight won't save them from being sneak attacked. If they also cannot be flanked, like Improved uncanny dodge (and enough rogue levels) or the all around vision some monsters have... then you could not.

Remember your four attacks with TWF must be a full round action, so you can't combine with a move action. So your slaughter would have to be every other round if your enemies aren't adjacent. You only get one attack if you move more than a 5-ft step.

cheers

PS Smart enemies that know that an invisible ninja is running around ALWAYS try to move a few squares each round to prevent the ninja from getting the full round action slaughter.

Yes, and no. If it's square-to-square filled of people, I would let Light Steps work. However, you are passing through threatened squares (3 per head you step on) provoking 2 AOO per head you step on if they have Combat Reflexes..

You cannot make attacks of opportunity against creatures that have total concealment to you.

yeah you can sneak attack constantly with invisible blade (its one of the bigger reasons to take ninja over rogue, since the SA is more reliable), but you get it at tenth, which is about when things with see invisibility, true sight, blindsense, etc. start getting more common, so you can't just rely on that.

True. I was answering his questions assuming he didn't have Invisible Blade on, since it was a separate couple of questions.

cheers

is there a feat I can take to be able to sneak attack those with concealment?

Silver Crusade

Shadow Strike

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Or if you're a ranged attacker, the Seeking enhancement. I hate that you have to spend a feat just to SA against regular concealment; it's also the reason I refuse to play a rogue w/o darkvision. Worthless in a dark alley? Yeah, that totally sounds like a rogue to me...

It's good but not quite as good as a buffed through the roof beastmorph vivisectionist alchemist pouncing whilst under greater invisibility.
