I don’t think this issue has been answered anywhere, so I’ll ask one more time before asking the big guy.
The wild stalker archetype in Ultimate Combat for the ranger gains two abilities called Rage Powers and Wild Talents.

Rage Powers: At 5th level, a wild stalker ranger gains a single rage power, as the barbarian class feature. He gains another rage power each five levels after 5th (to a maximum of four rage powers at 20th level). This ability replaces the ranger's second, third, fourth, and fifth favored enemy abilities.

Wild Talents (Ex): At 6th level, a wild stalker can either take a rage power, or gains a +2 insight bonus into any one of the following skills: Acrobatics, Climb, Perception, Stealth, Survival, or Swim. The wild stalker can gain one of these two benefits again every five levels after 6th (to a maximum of 4 times at 20th level). This ability replaces the ranger's second, third, fourth, and fifth favored enemy abilities.

The issue is that they both replace the exact same thing. Has anyone found a solution to this? Also, is he still limited to 4 rage powers at level 20, or a combination of the abilities leading to a max of 7 at level 20?

Don't quote me on this, but to my understanding, you pick and choose whether you want a Rage Power or Wild Talent to replace that specific favored enemy, but you can't choose both.

You get both. Why is this an issue?

Ok... Lets dig into this one.

Favored Enemy does -two- things... it gives you a +2 to hit and damage on a certain creature type, and at 5th and every 5 thereafter, gives you another +2 to hit/damage against a type (possibly even they type you just got.

So... at 20 if you use it you have 9 sets of +2 you can spread over a total of 5 different creature types.

With the Wild Stalker, you get 4 Rage powers, (5th/10th/15/20) and 4 other choices of either a rage power, or +2 to a skill.

For a total of -8- (not 7) abilities, and your first favored enemy gives you a bonus on perception and low-light vision.

Favored enemy does two things each time, so it seems they meant to make the replacement abilities give you 8 choices as well.

@Severed Ronin- No... if you take the Wild Stalker Archetype, you lose favored enemy entirely for Rage powers/skill boosts instead.

EDIT: hmmm... it seems that there is a typo in there. Either its supposed to be 6th and every 4 levels for Wild Talents (total of 4 at 20th level) or 6th and every 5 levels for a total of 3 at 20th level. Needa get that cleared up for sure... but what is replaced is clear.

One problem is that this is the only case where I can find of two archetype abilities replacing the same class abilities. Even then, you are replacing 4 favored enemy abilities with 7 rage powers?
The second issue is that you could gain rage powers at back to back levels? (5&6, 10&11, 15&16) That doesn't seem right.

But with the normal ranger you get +2 and +2 every 5 levels for attack/damage/knowledge/sense motive/bluff 1 for a new one and one for an old one. It's not any different... and the 3 level adjustment means you don't get the chains too soon.
