have you guys given any thought to upping the pathfinder advantage? i did out the msth snd even with the advantage, with standard shipping im only saving about 60 cents! over just buying it locally. since i cant agrue that the quality is worth the new increased price, i would love to get free pdfs for any product bought with just the pathfinder advantage. i know i could get that by subibg for everthing, but the cost out of one psycheck keeps that from happening. as it stands i could order from you, sace 60cents, and hafta wait a week for my products.thanls for at least listening.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

One thing that we are very careful with benefits is making sure that we don't massively undercut local gaming stores. We love local gaming stores and we understand that they aren't able to slash retail prices. We don't want to be offering discounts or benefits that totally hose them.

The other thing we consider is that we want people to subscribe *now*. Subscriptions are our bread and butter. They help keep the lights on and the doors open at Paizo. We carefully structure benefits, sales and promotions to encourage people to not wait to sign up. Offering free PDFs on older, non-subscriptions products puts us at risk for subscribers choosing to wait. Why would people bother subscribing *now* when they could wait for a few months and still get PDFs for free? That would put us at risk for not being able to continue publishing books.

The new increase in price for the Adventure Paths, the Maps and the Player Companions have been a long time in coming. As Erik's blog post about it noted,

Erik Mona wrote:
This is the first time we have ever raised prices on the Adventure Path, and we agonized over the decision. In truth, we probably should have raised the price a few years back when the cost of paper and printing increased with inflation and increased global demand at the end of 2008, but we wanted to hold the line as long as possible. We must do it now to keep the high standard of quality we publish each month, and we hope that you’ll find the few extra bucks well worth the investment.

thanks for responding. my thoughts were mostly about it being hardly a savings due to increased shipping costs on top of having to wait a week to get the product, and free pdfs helps with that "i wanna read it now" feeling. i totally understand that you want people to subscribe, but because it all gets dropped at once, its not finacially posssible for some. heck id subscribe to more it i could delay some of it to later in a month!

One option that I know some subscribers have started utilizing is using store credit. They purchase a little store credit each paycheck and then use the option on the My Subscription page to toggle on and off the use of store credit on subscriptions when they want to use it.

That is a great idea!

Two questions...

1) If you are using store credit to pay for a subscription I am guessing you don't check for funds on the credit car correct?

2) How do you buy store credit?

1) We still need a credit card on file. If your store credit does not cover a charge, the remainder will go onto the card.

2) You can buy store credit by purchasing and redeeming a gift certificate.

Thanks,
