Also two rhymes in my latest post was a little excesive, I'm thinking. I've wanted to recite the "one for sorrow" one at the sight of crows since I started reading up on such things, but the other had already been written by the time I remembered.

If you find a good source of fey beliefs, please share. This is the first fey character I've played and despite a clear Scottish heritage, I know next to nothing about them.

I also don't think two rhymes was too excessive. I wrote a post where I rhymed in turn to four people. I know it was a pain to WRITE, it never occurred to me that it might have been a pain to READ. 8)

Yeah I was all about D&D until 2nd ed came to a close and 3rd rolled out. I just decided that 3rd wasn't for me and my mates all felt the same way so we never touched it, let alone the newer additions.

I quite like Paizo's approach to the game, although the individual biases of some of the designers really annoys me (JJ and his self-fanservice with Cats and Dinosaurs > anything else by miles) and this stupid reluctance to allow LARGE bear animal companions; really? Have they looked at some of the animals they DO allow? And how are the AC's with the highest CHA (ie 12) four Dinosaurs? Are they from that kids movie Land Before Time? all the other companions rate in the 4-6 range. Urgh.

Some of that stuff REALLY irks me.

Auuuugh I hate this so much. They have large WOLVES for the love of god, and you can take a large elk, too. Because as we all know, wolves and deer are much much bigger than your average grizzly.

As for sources, Hilde, I've a set of gift shop books on irish mythology that I've... more or less exhausted already, at this point. Beyond that I'm TRYING to mine some of the enormous poetry collection my english major has saddled me with and get around to exposing myself to a midsummer night's dream, and otherwise just frantically googling where I don't want to wing it. We should both keep on the lookout, though! I'll let you know if something drops into my lap. Edit: Oh! And what, pray tell, is the Magd? I'm curious, I couldn't puzzle that one out.

Yeah as I say, WHAAATTHEF.... Hope they sort it BEFORE Elghund goes all 'Polar Bear Adams'.

Yah, I'm in 110% agreement in the bear companion issue. Kló would have been great with a bear companion that advanced to be ... Ya know ... the size of a polar bear.

Though in pretty happy with him as-is, too. :)

VC - Sydney, Australia

I'm getting onto James Jacobs about it, its a bear faced insult :p

Ooooouch. I picked the wrong horse, it seems. These rolls... D:

Went to the Jury Duty thing today, sat there all day, bored out of my mind. No cases were sent to jury, we were all excused.

Minor Crab-beast

Shifty can haz large bear in my games if you like... I'll even let it have a racial trait of Hatred: Dinosaur :P

Found out something positive today - since work upgraded out desktops I can once more post map updates and images to Google Drive - so yay for that :)

As far as fae myths and such - Stardust (Neil Gaiman) is an excellent read and gets you into the vibe of things most definitely. Neverwhere by the same author also has similar veins of thought. Wiki searching gets you a fair way as well.

Great news! and I looooove Neverwhere. BBC are supposedly doing a radio play of it this year. (Also if you haven't read it his poem "Fairie Reel" is a favourite of mine).

Edit: Ha! At the rate I'm going Bastagar won't actually hit anything (items excluded, I suppose) until second level. At which point his mysterious and currently non-existant sorcerer-powers can come from under wraps.

Have just read through the second volume and it's shaping up nicely :)

Some tasty scenarios for both the Ulfen and the Fae to come.

Should we home-brew a version of the bear companion that more closely mirrors the big cat progression?

Start it medium, advancing to large @ 7. Big strength, low dex, decent con with a moderate AC bonus. Give up pounce and some of the cat's mobility but keep grab? Any other thoughts on what makes a big bear a big bear?

HP 35/39 | AC 16 CMD 17 | Fort +7 Reflex +1 Will +5 | Perception +7 Initiative +1

Also, Kló will be ecstatic if Elghund ends up with a polar bear companion. They'll be like twins! ANd at level 6 and beyond, Kló can just live in polar bear wildshape form to have twin bears in the group.

There aren't any rules on how long you can go without sleep, but every hour of traveling after 8 you have to make a Con check. We ought to be well past that since we've been walking all night.

A more interesting scenario would be if Kló and the issbjorn became mates? Weird but interesting nei... :)

PS: I have midterms next week. General Pathology Tuesday and Medical Microbiology Friday. These test are both brutal - 150 questions, 3 hours each, no breaks, get Bs or you're dismissed from medical school. A quarter of those taking these exams last term were dismissed - adios, bye bye...by the way, you still owe us $100,000 for tuition so far...

I plan to post but if I make a mistake skimming long posts, please understand. Also, please understand that Hilde won't be saying much as I've got NoTime2Rhyme. 8(

Hilde - understood completely and take what time you need for the study and whatnot.

I had hoped to post tonight... but the eleven month old decided being awake till one in the morning was a far more important way to spend my time. Sleep first... then sneak a post at work methinks.

Joana - as stated over PM, I'm sad to see you go but understand your reasons why. I'll be seeing you round the boards at any rate. I raise a tankard and toast the sjaund to Halla.
