GM looking for PCs! Choose your campaign!

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 76 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Thanks for checking out this thread! I'm a GM looking for players who are interested in a play-by-post campaign on weekends. Here are a little specifics on what I am interested in doing.

Players: 4-8 players.

Player Class, Race, Archetype, Feats, Spells, Ect.: Any official PFRPG material can be used and most 3rd party material can be used. If you use 3rd party material, however, you will need to run it by me first. That being said, as long as it isn't overpowered, then I will more than likely allow it.

PC Point Build: 25 points that are distributed on a 1-for-1, no-scale basis.

Alignment: Any, so long as you do not use it as an excuse to antagonize the other players.

Campaign Material: I am willing to run any of the Pathfinder adventure paths, the Way of the Wicked adventure path, or one of my homebrew campaigns. My homebrew campaigns consist of a techno-magical Fallout-style campaign through the Mana Wastes, a planet-hopping sojourn through the Golarion universe, a low-magic/technology Medieval-style setting rife with wars and scheming, and a World of Darkness-style campaign where the PCs are the real monsters. I also can formulate a campaign based in the Oathbound setting as well.

Prior Experience: NONE!!! As long as you grasp the PFRPG rules, can roleplay effectively (Even if your character is an illiterate barbarian that just grunts,), and can remain relatively civil to the other players and to me, then you should be good.

If you are interested, simply post what campaign you would prefer to participate in, along with some specifics about your play-style (Roleplayer vs. Roll-Player,). I will select a campaign based on the posters that I pick to participate. I am eager to see how many awesome players show interest!

Also, forgot to post before, during the week I will be busy at times and thus may not reply to posts very quickly at all. On weekends, though, I should be pretty expedient.

Also just recalled: NeoExodus and Shadows Over Vathak are possibilities for campaigns as well!

Liberty's Edge

I am interested!

The planet-hopping and the fallout-style campaigns both sound like fun.

The Exchange

This sounds good to me, especially the Fallout homebrewed game.
I enjoy a game where basic survival in not guaranteed.
I usually work weekends so I have to ask, how many posts were you looking for per day?

dotting

Bot the planet-hopping game and the World of Darkness game(I've only played Geist:The Sin-Eaters, but I loved it) both sound really cool to me.

I've recently started a Fallout campaign, but I'd love to play in something similar. Also, most of the APs are something I don't have much experience with, so I'd be down for any of those.

I'm up for anything: AP or homebrew. :-) If we end up with an evil-esque campaign, I have a Half-Orc Nonlethal Damage/Intimidation specialist. Otherwise, I have a Tengu Fighter who will eventually be going Duelist and/or a Melee-focused Aasimar Summoner (no archetypes).

About Me:
I'm new to PbP but not to Pathfinder - I'm a GM for my local PFS group. I like an equal mix of roll-play and role-play. I build optimized characters, but don't minmax or do any of that cheesy stuff: my characters take on a life of their own, and their decisions WILL surprise me. If you want a glimpse of my posting style, check out the "Splinters of Faith" recruitment/campaign; I'm the insane meta Gnome.

A fallout like game sounds good to me.....

Definitely interested....

Dotting for interest. This sounds like it could be some crazy fun! Would you like us to submit the outline of a character and then change the specifics according to the campaign chosen?

Fallout style sounds awesome. I'd love to put a Monk in that campaign setting and see how he'd fare against possible firearms and the like.

Also, a question about the 25 point buy, no-scale format. To be clear, this means that, with all ability scores starting at 10, you could end up with a character with a starting strength of 35? Not saying that you'd choose a character that did so, just checking to see if that's what you meant mechanics-wise.

This sounds cool. I haven't actually played Fallout, but I'm plenty aware of it, and the Mana Wastes could be pretty awesome. Aside from that, any of the APs would be great, though I'm partial to LoF, S&S and Kingmaker at the moment. My preferred style would be diceless role-play, but I can hack 'n' slash just as well. I have plenty of characters that I might play, but they're all campaign-specific.

One question: you said you're looking for

Emphasis is mine. Does this mean that you only expect to post on weekends? That's not a problem for me, but I thought it could use some clarification.

Grand Lodge

Alright your homebrew sounds amazing... I'll get to work! Thinking an alchemist mayhaps...

Thanks for the interest guys and possibly gals! So far, the consensus seems to be on the Fallout style campaign, but I can do 2 or 3 different types, so I'll see what I can do on arranging things. As far as your individual questions, I'll try to answer them as much as I can. I also have a few questions of my own.

Cuchulainn, which is your preference for the campaign? General consensus here points to more people being available for the Fallout, so that seems a solid winner, but if any of the others are interested, I can do the planetary one as well.

DevonRex, the minimum number of posts is just whatever you can put up. I'm running on Georgia time and I tend to post from 10:00 to 6:00. If you can't make those times, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Azure Zero, which is your preference?

Azten, which is your preference? If it is the WoD style, which subset? And though it doesn't seem feasible to do a WoD at current interest levels, in the thread if there are a few more people, we can look at the possibility.

Loup Blanc, which is your preference? The Fallout-style campaign seems a given, while the PF AP seems not as much supported. If more people push for one, we can do that

Whack-a-rogue, any preference? I would suggest one of those that seem to be better supported, for similar reasons above. And any of those characters would work for any of these campaigns, with some backstory support.

Arknight, that seems to be the general consensus and I''m happy to hear it.

Tassadan, if you want to submit a character outline, then by all means, submit one and I'll look over it. The monk would definately work as a pugilist style character (And I'm removing the lawful alignment requirement, as many homebrews have done for monk, due to the question of chaos and law, which one is the truest philosophy of perfection?). No, there is a cap on each stat of 18 + racial bonus for 1st level characters. So, an elf with that boosts DEX up to 18 would reach the cap at 20, for example. Character creation points cannot raise a stat above 18, racial stat mods can.

The Dread Pirate Hurley, the campaigns will feature dice rolls, but I give bonuses (Small,) to rolls featuring vivid descriptions, especially in regards to diplomacy. And I would prefer to do it on weekends, as on weekdays I do not have as much time, but I can fit in maybe 1 campaign on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Grand Lodge

I'm game with either planet hoppers or fallout style. Being a warp rider would be too cool :)

Oh, and a few more things.

If you have a specific idea for a race or class for a campaign and it's not in any books you have, just put a post with the idea and I'll send you a PM about where you can find one. If you can't afford it, I'll just give you the basics (Racial mods, basic physiology, racial psychology, ect.,), as I can't send you a copy of the PDF, because that is considered illegal, I believe.

On a similar note, anyone wanting a science-style character more focused on biology than chemistry should check out The Flesh Wraith class that is being developed in the messageboards and is free for playtesting. I found it to be balanced, awesome, and flavorful in the extreme. No actual wraiths involved, it's all biological (Insect hivemind abilities, anyone? How about being host to a monstrous symbiote? Genetically engineering horrific beasts? All there!,).

If you have any specific ideas for how you want your character to weave into the campaign, send me a PM, unless you don't care if the other players see it, as I know some people want the whole mysterious-background-only-known-by-the-GM type thing.

Also, if you you guys could discuss among yourselves which person is committing to which campaign group and let me know after discussions are over between you, that would be great, as it would save a bit of time for me looking over everything.

And lastly, let me add that I did not place any poster-specific-spoilers in the above text because I thought it would be good to look and see what questions I answered that you may have asked yourself.

Liberty's Edge

If the consensus is the fallout campaign, I'm onboard.

Frankly, I'm pretty easygoing. If the consensus switches, I'm onboard with the new choice as well.

Welcome, Cromofthebloodhammer! Either one is fine, just get with a everyone that is interested in either side and determine which you are more interested in. And as far as alchemy, see my above post for the Flesh Wraith, if you are interested in a more biological, rather than chemical, based scientist character.

I don't think that this will happen, as about 1/2 of the posters stated that Fallout and planet-hopping was their preference and that probably won't change, I would imagine. Hope not anyway, as I'm really excited about the Mana Wastes/Fallout campaign especially.

By the way, something cool to ponder:

Spoiler:
Lazurite and Caphorite arcane bombs! Just to get the Fallout gonzo going a bit lol.

Liberty's Edge

We are still playing Pathfinder rules, but a Fallout style game, yes?

Of course. Just adding some homebrew and 3rd party stuff to the mix. And if you need any stats for a weapon just let me know. Have made or found versions of rules for pistols, rifles, SMGs, shotguns, flamethrowers, particle-diffusion cannons, ect..

The Exchange

Put me in for the Fallout game!
How do you feel about molerats or robots for animal companions/eidolon?

Backing out as I don't have weekends open

Okay, since I haven't actually played Fallout, I have some questions regarding the game style, given the inherent differences between the settings.

1. Will the game be set in Golarion with all of the fluff that implies, with Fallout-style elements being substituted, or will it be Fallout set in a place we call the Mana Wastes? For example, radiation: will there be any? If so, will it be actual radiation, or more akin to Mana Fever?

2. What is the technology level, and is it actually technology or is it magic-powered? You mention particle-diffusion cannons, which may exist in Fallout, but sure-as-heck don't exist in Golarion. Would they be a type of firearm? If they're magical, how does that work with the primal magic effects in the Mana Wastes?

Molerats can be animal companions for any class that has one. Robots could be an eidolon or a mechanus, which is a 3rd party class companion (Fot the Machinesmith class,).
Using the radiations listed in an older PF book, the one about Sekamina and all that (Don't remember the name off the top of my head,), so yes, PF rules, and setting, are used. As for magic, it says that it acts differently in the Mana Wastes, so I'll probably do a wild-magic/primal magic style ruling on how it works (Or doesn't,). Energy weapons are powered by quasi-magical substances, such as the 7 star metals listed in Shattered Star. And lastly, while magic doesn't work right when used in the Mana Wastes, magic items created outside them work fine, as the magic comes from the item itself.
Does that answer your questions adequately?

I'm also interested, you seem to be a pretty cool GM from what I've gathered reading over this so far, and since you asked for awesome players, you need look no further, as I am the Captain Doctor of Awesome.

While the Fallout one seems to be the definite game, and I wouldn't mind playing in that, I would really love to play something based on WoD, even if its a Golarion game using PF rules.

World of Darkness is truly got me into gaming, and I have been playing in that setting since 96.

Fallout is a definite preference for me, especially if it's set in a quasi-modern type of setting. I've had a character concept I've been itching to try for a bit...

Character Idea:

So, this is something that I've actually also considered using in some of my writing, but I think it'd be interesting to use in a campaign. It's less a mechanical idea and more of a flavor concept: a wandering warrior who is (or at least claims to be) a "Knight-Errant of the Order of Preservation." The key thing about him is that while he wears your whole post-apocalyptic regalia--dusty jeans/cargo pants, beat-up jacket, head scarf, all that good stuff--he also always keeps a USB-style flash drive around his neck on a lanyard, or just a piece of string. Doesn't know what's on it, but it's something the Order does: preserve this font of knowledge from the old world, hoping to someday find a working computer (or whatever) to find out what Secrets of the Ancients might be on this wondrous bit of tech.

It definitely looks like Fallout's the one it's going to be. I'll confess that I know very little about the setting. I gather that it's post-apocalyptic, and there'll be lots of guns? How would your generic fantasy swordsman fare in this environment?

Anyway, since you asked, here's my rankings for campaigns. If selected, I'm including the character I'd like to play.

1. Kingmaker - Aasimar Urban Barbarian/Summoner
2. Way of the Wicked - Half-Orc Intimidate Specialist
3. Low magic political medieval homebrew - I think I'm the only one interested so not going to bother submitting a character :-)
4. Fallout - Tengu Fighter/Weapon Adept Monk/Duelist

Monkeygod, that's the spirit! Fallout is definitely one of the 3 I'll GM for now. The other is a planet-hopper and it looks like that one's got good support too. As for WoD, it'll need another player or so, but if you can get somebody else, I can do that one too. Keep me posted on that, if you will.

Loup Blanc, if you are interested in that concept, we can definately work with that! What would the class be however? That can apply to several different classes, both official PF and 3rd party. Just let me know, ok?

Whack-a-Rogue, those characters sound very interesting. The Fallout campaign is indeed what is going to be the #1 campaign more than likely. As I stated though, I am holding 2 more campaigns. Planet-hopping is more than likely going to be the next one due to interest levels. The third is still up for grabs, so if you want one of the other ones, just fish around for interest among the people that are undecided on this thread and see if you can reach a consensus.

I'm pretty sure, just as an aside, that everyone that has posted here will be part of one of the campaigns. I am envisioning parties of about 5 people per campaign. Also, can everyone post their characters and the campaign they want the character in?

@The Silver Prince: Ah, forgot about the planet-hopper. That sounds fun as well. I'd probably play the Summoner in that one.

@Loup and everyone else who's still deciding on a campaign: Is anyone interested in doing an AP? Kingmaker, Way of the Wicked, Shattered Star, Jade Regent, or whatever. Since Fallout and the planet-hopper will fill up quickly, we should get a jump start on something set in the Pathfinder universe. :-)

If AP is the 3rd campaign chosen, then any will be fine, apart from Reign of Winter, if only because that's the only series that I do not own the entire adventure path at the moment (Argh, product waiting schedule!).

The Silver Prince wrote:

In that case, I'd like to stick my hat in for WoD instead. I've been wanting justification to use a Hungry Ghost Monk for a while. Working on character as we speak.

Loup Blanc wrote:

** spoiler omitted **

Loup, your concept sounds a lot like the one I was thinking of dang it.. LoL

Been wanting to do a character like Denzel Washington's in Book of Eli..... If we both got in, maybe could be a team with some common background?

Well, while my Fallout-ish character is one I'd really like to try, in the case of an AP, I've got a couple of ideas up my sleeves. One that I had started for a campaign that was starting a few weeks back--an all-Dwarven Skulls and Shackles--is a hard-living dwarf surgeon. He's probably the most developed character I have at the moment for that plan... I also have a few "inactive" aliases in my profile that could possibly be reworked for a campaign (Variziel in particular has seen something like 4 or 5 different incarnations).

Wow, looks like I MAY be doing FOUR campaigns lol! Like I said, everyone just mull it over and decide on one. Then just post your character, the campaign you want to join, and state that you're 'locking' it. If you're having trouble deciding, just let me know and I'll work with you to find out which one would work best for you. Just post here and I'll start working on the campaign, because I build campaigns around party dynamics.

The Exchange

I have a few ideas in mind
I've got a mad scientist/inventor/scavenger half-orc up my sleeve using the Grenadier Alchemist archetype . (Main optiom)
Alternately playing a full-orc melee berserker (Barbarian) would be fun as well.

Depending on how channeling/magic works there...I might be flexible, but for this type of game my first pick is mad scientist.

DevonRex, either would be fine. Alchemy isn't affected by the Mana Wastes magic-warping qualities, so you don't have to worry about that. Full caster classes function as well, but are extremely unpredictable (Am in the process of formulating a table for the effects,).

The Exchange

If you have it Inner Sea Magic has a good table and rules to get you started.

Silver Prince, I'm mulling over the many options which have become available, and two are standing out at the moment for my wasteland knight.

The first is actually the machinesmith class, which you mentioned earlier. I'd have to do some work with it to get it to where I'd like, but it seems interesting.

The other would be the Nitojutsu-Sensei archetype for the Samurai class, which could give an alternate feel as a wandering swordsman who can strike down foes with two blades. Could be quite interesting, and it does add a nice knight-errant kind of feel.

I'm still mulling it over, as I said, but just some food for thought.

First of all, I have to play the devil's advocate and be the one to ask:

Are you absolutely sure you can handle multiple parties in multiple, different games??

I've known a few who have run different parties in what was essentially the same game, but you're looking at possibly four very different games here.

I hate to get all worked up and then have you disappear when you learn you just can't handle it. Not accusing you or anything, but sadly, I have had this happen a bunch of times.

That being said, what exactly would characters be like, for the potential WoD style game? Would we be actual monsters?, monster like races? something else?

The Exchange

Will you be allowing traits for charachter generation?
If so will there be any Campaign Traits?

DevonRex, I do have Inner Sea Magic and am going to utilize portions of that table. Also, you can pick 1 regular trait, and 1 campaign specific trait, which I should have those ready by tomorrow.

Loup Blanc, just take your time, it's no rush because it'll be about a week before I have everything in line.

Monkeygod, I'll be having 1 or 2 campaigns on Saturday at different times and 1 or 2 campaigns Sunday at different times. I'm hoping everyone can decide on just 3 campaigns, because 4 is a stretch, but I've handled 3 before. Not on Paizo, though, it was on one of those 3.5 online campaign sites. And as for WoD, you will be a type of monster. It'll be a gothic horror type creature such as a vampire, werewolf, ect. What type is to be determined by popular vote amongst the players.

Does that answer your questions good enough?

Oh, for the WoD, Changelings and Sin Eaters are perfectly viable options for players as well. They fit under what I said earlier, but just clarifying.

I'm interested!!! Sounds like it might be fun! Character info is in the profile, but I will change out the campaign trait of course since this character was made for Way of the Wicked Campaign. Also willing to change alignment to LN to better fit into whatever campaign.

To clarify, would the WoD game used WoD rules or Pathfinder rules?

Actually, I know I just posted, but I got picked for a WotW ap with this character, so withdraw me from consideration here. Good luck to all who are applying here.. have a lot of fun!!!

Travis Brogan, which campaign are you up for? It appears that Fallout is going to be full. And alignment doesn't matter so long as you don't antagonize other players, of course.

Azten, the WoD campaign will be using Pathfinder rules.

That makes my decision a bit harder. Last time I played Geist I had a backup character whose Geist was a Leviathan. The game got put on hold, so I'd like to try and make him with PF rules.

Hmm, since I've been in a plane-hopping game before and that is at least similar to planet-hopping, I'd like to play WoD. :)
