Am playing in a PFS game, and have the following party:
Rogue (Vanilla, no archetypes)
Gunslinger (Musket)
Cleric (Melee battle Cleric)
Bard (Thundercaller)
Magus (Kensai with a bastard sword)
I've played arcane casters before, so wanted to a different direction. Was originally set to be a 2H Paladin, but not sure that is most useful.
I would like to have a high DPR as that is the role that I haven't gotten to play, I'm usually Gming...
So, looking for suggestions for the 6th party member, I'm a fan of different and odd combinations, but it does have to be PFS legal.
Thanks in advance.

Could use a controller. Wizard with conjuration spec.
All in all, it looks like a decent party, so the 6th character should just be whatever the player wants to play without worrying about filling a niche or redundancy. For fun, the new char might even have something very similar to another character, like another cleric or inquisitor or paladin that's from the same church as the current cleric. Or another bard looking to form a band or from the same college as the first bard. Perhaps another rogue or a thuggish fighter from the same thieves guild as the first rogue.

Wait... what?

A paladin with a big two-handed weapon would fit this party perfectly! I think your first instinct was a good one.
Human Paladin, Greatsword, starting feats Power Attack & Fey Foundling. . . You'll have high DPR, the flexibility to switch weapons as needed (Smite Evil works with any weapon, up close or at range.), and so many swift & immediate actions (Detect Evil, Smite Evil, Lay on Hands yourself, and many good paladin spells) that you'll be able to take two actions during most rounds of combat. At fifth level you get the choice between the abilities "I win the action economy" and "I have the best weapon in the game." AKA Bonded Mount and Weapon Bond. A paladin has a lot of ways to contribute the party beyond his DPR role, including: auras that passively increase your companions' saves by +4, Lay on Hands yourself during combat to avoid anyone else ever spending an action to heal you, channel energy to heal the whole group and save their bacon when the feces interfaces with the wind machine, and mercies (which don't come up often but totally save the day when they do). If you want an extra way to help the party out, max the Intimidate skill and take Antagonize.
