We always split a d6.
Then some of us bought some d3's and now we tend to use them.
(on a related note, some of us phased out use of the traditional pyramid d4's for Crystal Caste's d4's. For ease of reading, their d4's are the only dice from their "crystal" shape line that I'd recommend over the standard, but what a difference that one exception makes.

I use d3s for hit dice.
I have a house rule that you roll 2 half size dice at each level, as a compromise between taking half the max value (my original preference) and the standard rule (one guy made a big fuss about losing that half a hit point each level).
I agree that there's little difference between a 3 and a 4, but it adds up when you roll multiples.

+1
I hate D4 so much I usually roll D8 and divide.
i only have an ugly orange cylinder D4 but its a jewel in my collection.
as for the d3, a d6 divided is easy enough for me.

(In my best Jerry) Some of best rolls are D3; my entire GAME is D3!
(Switch to George) I'M a D3!
Ahem. Anyway, yes, I use D3's. I see no shame or trouble in this. In fact the mean weenies MTG gamer in me wants to see MORE D3's with ridiculous bonus damage stacked on it. I think it was Umbranus that taught me how to convert a Ray of Frost into a 1D3+7 damage attack; I think that's awesome and would love more.
This is why I'm working dilligently to craft a build using 3.5 and PF feats, focused on rays, that would just weedle enemies to death with said ray. An echoing, split ray fired quickened from a wand while holding a Rhime Spell rod in the other hand so that the twin rays of frost attack a second time the next round for a total of 4d3+7 forcing 4 saves vs getting entangled.
I'm sure I'll be destroyed by round 2.

I remember writing on these boards that I bought a set of blank dice (a d4, d6, d8, d10, d12 and d20) from paizo.com, but had no use for the blank d6 or d10. Someone suggested that I make the blank d6 into a d3. I thought that was a good idea, although I commented at the time that I would have no use for a d5.
I was wrong. Oftentimes, if something might happen to one of 3 characters, and I wanted to pick one at random, I would roll 1d3. And I'm now running a campaign with 5 PCs.
(By the way, if I do use, say, a d6 as a d3, I don't usually divide. More often, I use modular arithmetic.)

I got one d6 with double 1-3, like some others here. mine was form some kids board game. When we trashed the game I kept the dice and it took me some time and missed rolls (in a d6 game) to figure out why I always rolled so low.
Now I always use it for d3 rolls.
As to d5: there are actually some games using a d5 on a regular basis.
For example the Warhammer 40K games from FFG use them for some weapons as damage dice.

!
Boy, that must have stunk!
I once got a game with a twenty-sided d10. I later threw away the game, but kept the die. For a short while, it was in my regular Pathfinder dice set, but I later put it into storage in fear that someone might mistake it for a d20.

I'm curious where my d3 is from. Maybe someone knows. Its a blue d6 with large, white numbers 1-3 printed on the surfaces.
Yep that's exactly the same as mine from the boardgame Survive later called Escape From Atlantis I think.
