Welcome to the Pathfinder Online Community!
~~~ Pathfinder Online - Community Information ~~~
There are a lot of people here who have been following Pathfinder Online for a long time, and who would be happy to share their knowledge with you. Please feel free to ask questions, and we'll do our best to be friendly and answer them or point you to information you might find interesting.
Ryan Dancey and the rest of the team at Goblinworks have been sharing their thoughts and plans with us for over a year now, so there's a lot of information. No one expects you to read it all, but hopefully the link above will help you find the information that's most important to you.
*snaps fingers*
I knew there was something else I was forgetting to do. I went through recently and reordered the CC list based on original announcement / activity level and couldn't shake the feeling that I was forgetting something I had intended to do...
It's listed now.
If you - or anyone else - would like me to add a brief description so that people can get a quick idea of the guild while browsing the list, just PM me or post here... or post anywhere, really, I'll probably see it :)
Thanks Nihimon. Can you please add the follow blurb for Shadow-Haven
Shadow-Haven is an open-minded neutral evil community of knowledge seekers that caters to assassin, bandits, cultists, monsters, necromancers, and other ne’er-do-wells.
Shadow-Haven, where pitchfork wielding mobs, are a thing of the past.
So, I've been looking at the company page you set up, and it seems like much of them are being formed (obviously) and joined already. Is this going to be the trend? Are fully formed companies just going to move into that area of the River Kingdoms? Sure new players will be added monthly, but even some of them might pre-join. I like a lot of them, but I, personally, think I'd prefer roleplaying it out in game to try to make my way into a company. I suppose the standard YMMV applies, but it seems like a missed opportunity to join all these before we can even step foot in game.
I'm curious about this myself. I've considered starting a group or joining one myself, but it just seems quite a while off, even if the kickstarter succeeds. Part of it is also that I'm not sure what exactly I'll end up doing, given that I no idea what the final game will look like character and skill tree wise. Probably gonna focus on crafting, but beyond that, eh. Not to mention with the way training works as of now not sure what I'll be running in turn of alts, if I can only train one with my subscription I'll probably keep it small in comparison to what I usually do.
just so everyone is aware around 2015 there will be plenty of newbie fodder to enlist in mass quantities. not to mention every five minuts another guild opening up. the people who you can get to join now however have a high chance of both staying with you and having a much deeper conection with once the game releases. There has even been rumors of certin members of the forums meeting secretly in chat rooms exchanging phone numbers oh will the gosip never cease. Mwa Ha Ha Ha!
I'm sure there will be a mixture of both. The advantage of belonging to a guild or settlement before the game begin means you can hit the ground running and try and search out and claim suitable hexes. I imagine there will also be lots of solo players who will decide to join a group or make their own, once they see the lay of the land.
One of the challenges is nailing down a concept first that you'll be happy to stick with, for the forseeable future. So take your time and work what your dream character would be, work up a back story, set yourself some goals. Then *snap* Roberts your mother brother, you'll probably have a much better idea on where you'll want to fit in.
Oh I already know 'who' I want to be in terms of two characters (though I'm usually a single character kinda guy). I know where at least one of them can easily 'fit in' and the other had numerous options. But joining now feels like all these groups are waiting for the gates to be thrown open to charge en masse (picture 0959 outside the Paizo door of the vendors hall at GenCon if you can) instead of organically growing through RP. Early access had at least 9 months of build time before the door opens for all the others who want to jump into companies or make a new guild every five minutes (likely setting up competition and conflict-:)), so it seems still a little preemptive to fill your guilds a year before even early access had access. Again, YMMV, but maybe I'm looking at this too 'in-character'.
Moving this back to the top for new people.
Any guilds/chartered companies/whatever we're calling them which are on the Leaderboard and wish to be added to the list, please post here to let poor Nihimon know to add your link(s), as this is the only one-stop shop for guild info I'm aware of.
Heh. Just gave Nihimon more work. My job here is done!
If I could ask a question as I haven't found it anywhere yet and you seem to be a helpful bunch, Has there been any word on alts and how they will work as far as "Leveling?" I know in Eve, you could only advance skills in 1 character at a time so it was basically useless to have alts except as mules or something. I would like to see atleast a few alts be allowed. I have a whole family (clan cause they are dwarves) that I would love to bring into PFO, but If I have to pick 1 then I guess I can. Any assistance would be great.
Side note, Great list on recommended readings and guild lists.
From Never punish a player for using a single account:
You will almost certainly be able to train skills on more than one character per account. Doing so almost certainly will not be free.
I believe this means we'll be able to train two characters on the same account at the same time as long as we're paying for both of their training.
I intend to pay a single subscription for my main, and try to make enough coin to buy Skill Training packs for my alt(s) in-game. I may very well end up paying two subscriptions to train both of my "main" characters simultaneously.
Ryan has also indicated that this option might not be available right away during Early Enrollment.
@Hroderich Gottfrei, done :)
@Chiassa, feel free to bump any thread you want, but I had actually hoped to replace this one with Community Greetings! -- Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links. That thread title seems a bit more descriptive :)
Thanks, Gedichtewicht, but it's actually been replaced by Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links.
