Arrow spam remains strong, until it is countered.

I just wanna point out that some cultures had two types of bows.

Hunting Bows: Made & Used similar to how we use bows now.

War Bows: Made to be fired from a near table-topped position. and to be drawn back in a manner similar to that used in Avatar. Normally made of Cheaper materials but with little customization for the individual wielders. Typically they required more strength to pull back and as such were effective at laying down continuous volleys.

NOTE: This comes from a Medieval Military Doctrine Codex.

This is one of those cases where not having Armor be DR is tripping people up.

Crossbows had lower rate of fire, but better armor penetration. They were also significantly easier to teach people to use, even if they were more expensive to make.

Tournament aiming in modern archery competition is all about getting Exactly The Right Shot, and doesn't bear much resemblance to combat archery (or even hunting archery) in most ways. It bears slightly more resemblance than Olympic Fencing does to 19th century smallsword techniques.

We are also arguably living in a golden age of martial arts research and study.

Pretty cool video. Thanks for sharing AD.

PFF. Anybody can shoot ten arrows a round. Now let's see him try to fire off ten shots from a flintlock musket! That would be something special.

Armour soak systems and armour as dr really can work. Been trying a few of late. Players scowl when a decent shot turns into a bruise thanks to armour, and cheer when their shots go through and into their targets.

MMm soak.

I would have thought cluster shot would be brokenly powerful using those rules, instead of subtracting 20 or so from every hit you would do it once. I also would of fought that duel wielders and monks would basically be unviable given most of their attacks damage would ping off DR.

If you were to use it, armour dr would apply to firearms as well, because of proofing.

It could indeed really mess with the low damage attacks, or those on some penalties with average bab.

The good news, and you don't have to do it this way, but it would mean that hits would be more frequent, since a lot of ac becomes dr. If you get me.
