Note: Level 6 awaits the goodly group the absolute microsecond that the game's Google Document is updated to the current encounter. There was an offer of some panache being included in the writing. I would like a pinch of that as well please.
Aside: I normally heavily lean on this document to save myself time backtracking for information, and to this point it has been a resource that is so out of date that it is all but unusable. I would like to rectify that, so if we could make a concerted effort to keep it up to date that would be greatly appreciated.
16 days later...I was trying to remember the name of the bad guy for this dungeon, so I fired up the Google Doc to help me, and nope it's not there.
I'm starting to think you guys are losing interest, which is sucking away my interest in continuing to run this game.
In the levelling to 6 will anyone get to 4 ranks of language: iksar?
<taps microphone to ensure it is on>
It's even bolded and everything.

Revery |

Re: Iksar, maybe next level. I didn't think about it this time.
Re: The game glossary and synopsis, what's the bad guy's name if not Swenj?

Xenh |

Re: The game glossary and synopsis, what's the bad guy's name if not Swenj?
Baddies name is Swenj
My point is that I went to access the document and it was not complete, which was frustrating after requesting assistance from the player base to make this game an enjoyable experience for all of us.
I am politely requesting help from all of you once again. Please get the document up-to-date.
And how does Loki know every ones names if they were slaves on a different ship?
The evil group were hired as slavers and worked on the good ship until they were betrayed and woke up chained on the evil ship. You have weeks of interactions with each other, though the good side was drugged through the exchange. Everyone knows everyone else, save Kwen.
The specific classes are unknown, unless they were made overt right from level 1. Sajeek reveals his by his warder, as does Loki by his pet (most higher level SKs also have skeletal pets, but rarely go into combat wearing robes), and Revery by his. Gwendalyn is a bit of a mystery, and is perhaps a straight melee combatant, consider her weaponry and size. Piter is a bard, and the others mix into the melee role, with Cak either being a monk or a beastlord who has lost his warder. Everyone knows that Nogglegrop is a cleric, since he was the heal monkey on the evil's raft.

Xenh |

Ignoring Sajeek's posting before the evils had finished their round. I fired him an e-mail asking for him to copy it into a post with the Sajeek alias, after the goods had been tagged, but the edit time has elapsed.
Please post your route if you're charging after someone. This is why I took the time to provide a map. The good are all standing in the square below the "90'" note. Piter is near the ladder. Zaruksis is on the other side of the largest boulder near the good group. Cakkarak and Kur'plugh are once square south of the square that has the ladder in it. Loki is around the corner one square west of the monk/shaman.

Bows do x3 on criticals.

Oops, fixed.
Thanks, I appreciate you cats keeping me in line.

Revery wrote:Bows do x3 on criticals.Oops, fixed.
Fixed to use the proper die. Teaches me to post from my phone on the fly.

Kwen |

Alright for the good party in the Google document, is now all caught up, Loki if you had added a lot to the page, I thank you for that, or who every did it. I am sorry that I didn't update it earlier in the week, but it is now caught up to this current encounter between good and evil.
On a side note, Bioshock Infinite is AWESOME! That game sucked up a lot of my free time.

Xenh |

Kwen can only backstab with a piercing weapon. So no scimitar, or longsword, for those strikes. This is on purpose, since piercing weapons are made for pinpoint striking, and tend to be fast weapons that are not heavy damage inflictors (you do your worst through speed and accuracy).
Not sure if you'd rather go with the longsword damage, or the piercing + backstab damage in this case. Please post your new damage, making it clear which strike you are going with.

Wonderful! Thanks so much. I'll check it out in a minute once I've done this post.

Well that is good to know, I've taken a feat that is invalid due to EQ rules on backstab damage, thankfully the backstab damage was so low :)
Weapon Finesse is not as useful as I thought it was, meh nothing that I can do about it at the moment :)

Weapon finesse lets you use your DEX mod to the fullest, rather than having to rely so heavily on your STR score, which is ideal for a rogue, since the bulk of your damage will be coming from precision damage on a fast weapon, rather than brute strength.
It only affects weapons with quick delay or faster (delay 4 or faster), which means it would affect a dagger (quick), rapier (quick) or scimitar (quick), but not a longsword (standard delay).
If you want to ditch weapon finesse, feel free : )
On a personal note: I like this rule, since it fits an iconic rogue role to use a dagger, I never got the idea of someone using a earthbreaker to do precision damage.
You will be glad to fit into that mold since daggers generally have you in mind.

Xenh |

Google document looks great. Checking who took part in the latest updates.
<<< DING Level 6!!! Sajeek >>>

Kwen |

Yeah, that makes sense, it is just before getting the STR bump, it made sense to take weapon Finesse, I will ditch weapon finesse after this battle, it doesn't make sense to change it in the middle of combat.

Fredrik |

The trip was smooth. I'm visiting family in a prearranged trip; I was hoping to change the tickets to not be gone so long, but it was too expensive. Might as well look for work while I'm here, since I'm not having too much luck back home anyway. Posting should be fairly consistent for a couple of weeks, now that I'm more-or-less settled in.

Revery |

Loki, want to roll your poison damage? A 6 means Revery's spell fails. :-p

Xenh |

Now that's how you roll poison damage!
BTW if you have an active DoT on you, just roll the damage yourself. There's a fair number of things to track with the two groups lingering in each other's presence.

Xenh |

There's a fair amount of different things going on in the combat, so if I missed something glaring please let me know.

Revery |

Question: In your last Xehn post, who was this against, and shouldn't it have been in Loki's post?
Poison Bolt (round 1): 1d6 ⇒ 6
Poison Bolt (round 2): 1d4 ⇒ 2

Xenh |

Question: In your last Xehn post, who was this against, and shouldn't it have been in Loki's post?
'twas the damage Nogglegrop took last round and this round.

Revery |

Okay, I was confused because you already rolled a 5 for the first round, I think.

Xenh |

Okay, I was confused because you already rolled a 5 for the first round, I think.
Oops, I did indeed. Nice catch.
In the future I think I'll just roll all of the rounds for a DoT when I post the attack, since it causes confusion otherwise.

Revery |

In a big confusing combat like this, maybe giving the rounds numbers might help, too.
"Poison damage by round:
Round, Dam
3, 5
4, 2
5, 3
6, 1"
I thought the 2nd and later rounds were a fixed amount of damage, and assumed that in my last post for Revery. If that's wrong I can roll for it instead...

D6 for first round, and D4 for the next 6 rounds.
Think I will do it thusly to eliminate much of the extra non-roleplaying text : )
Poison Bolt (round 1): 1d6 ⇒ 1
Poison Bolt (round 2-7): 6d4 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 3, 3, 1) = 12

Gwendalyn |

Cakkarak: Swenj dropped two sacks of hearts earlier. They're at his feet.

Gwendalyn |

(please ensure you take the distraction of the damage into account for any spells cast)
My understanding is that -- oddly enough -- combat is not considered a distraction unless you're actually hit during the casting itself (such as by an AoO or readied action), or if you cast defensively (to avoid provoking an AoO).
In retrospect, even though not casting Flash of Light defensively, I should've included a channeling check anyway, in case he got an AoO. The nature of PbP has really drawn out the resolution of that action.

Xenh |

Yup, tis why I was speaking of the "distraction of the damage", not the distraction of the combat : )

Xenh |

The combat is over and each side will return to their respective thread to continue from here, so each DM can play out the departure.
I would appreciate a synopsis of the battle, to bring the thread up to date, if someone gets a few minutes. Once posted the goodly group can continue from there.

Gwendalyn |

I've begun a synopsis, but I might not finish for an hour, since I'm a fast typist but a slow writer.

Gwendalyn |

A really slow writer. (Almost done.)

Xenh |

Nice synopsis post Fredrik!
<<< DING Level 6!!! Gwendalyn >>>
p.s. Loki is dinged.

Gwendalyn |

Oops, missed something at the end of the synopsis. (I was tired.)

Revery |

Awesome synopsis, by the way!

Piter de Colmar |

Piter CLANG

Gwendalyn |

Totally random fact of the day: masterwork thieves' tools give a +2 circumstance bonus to Pick Lock and Disable Device checks! I have no idea why I decided to mention that just now. ;)

Kwen |

Huh, didn't know that they gave +2 bonus to Disable Device checks.

Xenh |

<mouthspray>
"Hey ladies, I have the right tool for any job..."

Revery |

(In Pathfinder too)

Revery |

Fyi, Gwen, Revery didn't catch Loki's disease (he saved).

Gwendalyn |

So he did! I skimmed to see if there was anything else I missed besides the Invisibility, and missed that save on the re-read.
P.S. Revery has 41/42 hp. Apparently Gwen's critical success on curing a non-existent disease weakened the poison instead, so that it ended a couple of rounds early. Or something like that.

Revery is at 36/42 hit points.
Stop curing diseases that don't exist.
p.s. You have the mana back because the spell went "WTF m8" when you cast it.

Xenh |

"Swenj falls to his knees and expires with an eerie cackle and prayer in that sibilant tongue that is familiar to Sajeek: Shissar."
This information was provided only to Sajeek.
The iksar are too young to know of the Shissar beyond stories, where the vah shir have a more timely reference to the language.

Kwen |

All hail the overlord :)
thanks that will help my research for ze evil group
By the way Kwen now has four ranks in Iksar

Xenh |

By the way Kwen now has four ranks in Iksar
Oh nice, I'll include that!

Gwendalyn |

Stop curing diseases that don't exist.
I'll try, but it's so easy. You just say, "You're cured," and bam! It's like they never had it. (Because they didn't.) Speaking of which, I'm proud to report that you no longer have hyposhissaritis. You're welcome. ;)
P.S. Ding?

Xenh |

P.S. Ding?
Ding indeed, though you missing yesterday's posting, after I levelled you, makes panda sad.
<kills anyone that mentions the Shissar out of context...with a +3 rusted spork that procs noogies>

Kwen |

Sad panda face, just got back after doing 6+ hours of yard work. It seems that the dice roller doesn't like my search checks :)

Revery |

So, is Kwen invisible, or did Revery not get his spell off, or did he do it and Kwen turned visible subsequently?

Turned visible.
