Is there a place or a list of the benefits to sticking various stones into various wayfinders?

Seekers of Secrets book has it, I'm not sure if that information is on the SRD.

Indeed, that would be the book "Seeker of Secrets"

Thanks for the reply!

With "Seeker of Secrets" so dangerously close to being completely sold out forever, I'm a bit surprised (and miffed) that the Ioun Stone and Wayfinder combinations weren't reprinted in Ultimate Equipment. It would've been nice to have them there, but I understand that it would've taken up more additional pages just for that one resource.

Nah, its more likely because wayfinders are Golarion specific and UE was a setting neutral book. No wayfinders, so no reason for resonance with ioun stones to be reprinted.

Also, Seeker of Secrets will still be available in PDF form even after the physical copies are sold out.

Here's an odd question related to this topic...

It's one Ioun Stone per Wayfinder, of course - but can a character have multiple Wayfinders with one Ioun Stone implanted in each?

They could but none of them would work.

A PC having more than one wayfinder with an ioun stone causes all of them to stop working completely.

They are like highlanders in that you can have only one.

D'oh, just found that in Seekers of Secrets - question withdrawn. Thanks Eric.

Not necessarily. There are Wayfinders that hold multiple Ioun Stones.

Ebon Wayfinder can hold two stones
Wayfinder of Passage can hold three stones

A related question: for the Resonance bonus, I would assume that only a "pristine" Ioun stone would work, not a cracked or flawed one, but I don't see it specifically stated. Am I right, or can you use cracked/flawed stones to get resonance?

Method 2 allows cracked, flawed or scorched ioun stones to have resonance - see results 94, 95 and 96. However, that doesn't apply for present purposes.

Thanks, Dragnmoon. I didn't think to check the Additional Resources for that little erratum.

it's kind of odd, but the Pathfinder Delver has a cracked Ioun stone in his Wayfinder (or at least he does in the version of that book that I have).

I guess that need to be corrected.

Nothing says that you can't put a cracked/flawed ioun stone in the wayfinder. Just that you won't get the resonance benefit from it.

I have a character with a cracked ioun stone in a Wayfinder, just to keep it hidden from view. But I don't get any resonance out of it.

And, for the record, it's only in PFS that cracked and flawed stones have no chance of resonance (and normal stones have 100% instead of 75%). In Seeker of Secrets, it's just a lower % chance. PFS keeps it simple and verifiable.

Am I remembering correctly that when you put an Ioun Stone in the Wayfinder and gain a resonance benefit, then you lose one of the daily powers? So if you put an Ioun Stone in a normal Wayfinder you can no longer use it to cast light?

A standard wayfinder doesn't cast light daily, it produces light at will, but you're right that while an ioun stone is slotted into it, this magical power doesn't function. Each of the improved wayfinders lists what powers cease working when each of the slots contains an ioun stone. The wayfinder's compass component is non-magical and still works.

I would take a wild guess and say that ioun stones will addressed again in the upcoming Pathfinder Society Primer.

Edit: After reading through the description, I noticed just noticed it says- New variant wayfinders and other useful magic items Pathfinders can employ in the field.
New ioun stones—legendary magic gems that fit into a Pathfinder’s wayfinder and grant significant powers—as well as flawed and cracked varieties of each.

Is that really the rule or is it no more than one AUGMENTED ioun stone in a Wayfinder (because that's the rule I read)? If the 1 Wayfinder/ioun stone limit is only to augmented ioun stones, then it would be possible to have Wayfinder A with one cracked ioun stone; and then Wayfinder B with another cracked ioun stone and have both cracked stones confer their base benefits (obviously neither gets an augmented benefit).

Am I missing something?

The auras of multiple augmenting wayfinders tend to interfere with each other; a person with one who tries to hold or carry a second usually finds that both sputter out in just a few seconds, but activate again once the second one is set aside.

So, yeah... the part that "sputters out" would be the augmented effect (aka resonance power) from the ioun stones. If one wayfinder is producing a resonance effect, and a second is NOT, then there shouldn't be any problem; you should still get the resonance effect from the first, and use the built-in powers of the second.

Any of my PCs, especially the opnes without any spellcaster levels, with a Ioun stone resonanting within a Wayfinder usually has a second Wayfinder, just for the light spell. OIne of them has that second Wayfinder as a Dayfinder....
