Hello, I was invited to start a new "Rise of the Runelords"-game. We are playing with three players, one of them making a Master Summoner, the other making a Vanilla Bard. I think what they are missing is a strong Breaker on the frontlines. With all the support I'll be getting (Flanking buddys, Enlarge Person, Haste, Inspire Courage) a melee character could truly shine. But what class/build could be the most useful/powerful in this setup?
We have 25 Point Buy and are allowed to use all rulebooks (even Advanced Race Guide). Thank you for any advice :)

STR Ranger |

For THAT AP i'd go with either Lore Warden TWF or a Two Weapon Warrior, OR A Ranger (FE, Giants and evil outsiders) TWF.
You get tons of Attacks vs your foes (giants are generally low AC/High HP) and Bards Inspire Courage rocks on TWF.
Plus you'll have lots of Flanks.
I'd favor the ranger for better skills.

With what you've got I'd say paladin would be my first choice. Your lacking on healing so LoH will be great to have and (spoilers but not really) there are quite a few evil things in the AP. Oath of vengeance is an awesome Archetype that will give you plenty of smites. Then again with all the summons taking a lot of the damage a barbarian is a very viable choice. Don't need too much AC when you've got all those meat-shields.

Oni-Spawn Tiefling Titan Mauler Barbarian.
At first level, you can have base strength of 20, with your alter self ability 22, and with rage 26. Slap Enlarge Person from your buddy, and it will bring that up to 28. Also, the Titan Mauler archetype will eventually remove all the penalties from using larger weapons.
All those giant weapons will be yours to use.

Sword and Board Paladin with Fey Foundling sounds extremely strong, but has the Paladin enough feats to pull this off?
I like the idea of a barbarian very much, with all those giants in Varisia, dwarf could be a good race. Damage Reduction and high HP (We get our Hit Dices max as hitpoints) could help me last the fight. But is there a good way to make him TWF?
Ranger sounds like he's lacking defensive potential. No high AC, "only" d10, no big bonus on saves. What are his strong points in comparison to Paladin and Barbarian?

2 handed paladin with fey foundling. You'll basically be unkillable and with the bard and master summoner will break his campaign.
"...break his campaign."
If your goal is to break the campaign, will it also break the GM's or other players fun? See, here's where I differ from some folks on the boards. Why break the campaign? Do you not want any sort of challenge? If you don't want a challenge, by all means break the campaign. Build the most effective, optimized character you can, and play below your APL. Level up a time or two before tackling the next bit, just in case. Just be sure beforehand that that's what everyone else wants, too - and that includes the GM, because he or she is playing the game as well.
...sorry, ranting a bit. Or maybe more than a bit. But you get my point, I hope. Before you decide to optimize to the point where the GM will have to alter the AP to challenge you, be sure that's what everyone wants.

Going Barbarian, and focusing on a two handed weapon will up damage output. Power Attack consistently, and basically smash down opponents.
If you go Oni-Spawn, the Superior Clutch trait will up you damage with larger weapons. Also, the Alter Self ability will allow you to take forms with natural attacks, which you can add to your attack sequence.

I support barbarian or paladin if you're swinging for the bleachers.
But this is a unique opportunity to make one of the less spectacular martial classes really shine... A fighter could be interesting because, as you mentioned, you have all the support casting you'll need, so you may as well bring the feats.

If I remember correctly, Tiefling is a native outsider and thus not eligible for Enlarge Person.

Ah, sorry. Switch Oni-Spawn Tiefling to Angel-Blooded Aasamir with the Scion of Humanity alternate racial trait.
Now, you still have the +2 Strength, Alter Self ability, but now with no penalty to any stat, and you count as Humanoid(Human) for spells and effects(and prerequisites).
Pierce the heavens and strike down giants with a single blow.

I'm suggesting it because it's the only way he's going to keep up with the bard and master summoner. Personally I think the master summoner is the strongest build at lower levels. Coupled with a buff class it becomes next to impossible to deal with. So if he plays a paladin that's unkillable he'll be somewhat on the bards and the summoners level. This is the DM's fault for not banning the master summoner.
