I'm building a Half-Elven Summoner - in our campaign Elves and Orcs have a common ancestry and Half-Elves are racial throwbacks that are born eemingly at random to both races. I'm trying to work this concept into my character build.
(This was originally supposed to be a Wild Caller but inexplicably that archetype has been banned from PFS play, so...)
Below I've listed the feat selection I'm planning on - the character starts out as a 1st level Fighter and then goes Summoner the rest of the way. Levels 1-8 he stays close to his eidolon fighting with a reach weapon, but once the eidolon qualifies for the Large size evolution they fight as a mounted pair. The thing I'm torn on is whether or not I should use the italicized feats to make my Summoner tougher and more effective or if I should spend those feats on Extra Evolutions to further enhance my eidolon.
1st - Skill Focus: Survival, Power Attack, Furious Focus
3rd - Arcane Armor Training or Extra Evolution
5th - Eldritch Heritage (Orc Bloodline – Touch of Rage)
7th - Arcane Armor Mastery or Extra Evolution
9th - Mounted Combat
11th - Improved Eldritch Heritage (Orc Bloodline – Strength of the Beast)
13th - Weapon Focus: Lance or Extra Evolution
15th - Arcane Strike or Extra Evolution
17th - Greater Eldritch Heritage (Orc Bloodline – Power of Giants)
19th - Quicken Spell

Currently: Lose arcane armor training, since you don't have med/heavy armor proficiency, and they take the same swift action as arcane strike. When a summoner rides into battle, especially if you have Mounted Combat, only the fools will attack the Eidolon (and then you win) so make your summoner as tough as possible, saves, ac, hp, everything.
