Question about naming my dhampir

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

What kind of name would a dhampir have? Do they have a unique name pattern or do they just use common names?
any help would be appreciated.Cheers

Dhampir wrote:

Names: Lacking a culture and unified traditions, dhampirs share humans' predilection for a diversity of names, and most keep their human birth names. Many dhampirs take their mother's surname, while others take the surname of the towns or regions in which they were born, or use a surname derived from a significant event.

As it states, it is generally names based on the parents and their cultural setting.

If the heritage and background of your characters is more exotic, a more exotic name might be more appropriate.

"Darth" would come to mind.

Just name him "D" you know you want too

Be a rebel, give him a name like Richard, Andrew or Lionel. You'll certainly stand out among all the other emo gothic wierdo Dhampirs:-).

Well I'm not an "emo gothic" I didn't know that wanting to play a dhampir would make me one I merely wanted to try something new is that so bad?

Meh, don't mind me, I just find Dhampir terribly cliched. They even have a race specific "Vampire Hunter" inquisitor archetype, and an "I like to cut myself" Wizard archetype.

Yes, you're a bad person for wanting to play a dhampir... ;}

The first thing I did when I cracked the Advanced Race joint was flip to dhampir, eyeball the hell out of it, and make a character named "D."

Like a total cliche.

What, noone suggested Alucard yet? No Castlevania fans?

You failed me, internet!

But, seriously, call him Earl.

Sorry Torquar I guess I jumped the gun my apologies.

And hellacious huni I think I might do that XD

I've decided to name him Fronar Hafler

My second Dhampir was going to be named Alucard. ;)

Alucard, D, Blade, they all came to mind for me. Though Alucard isn't a Dhamphir...

Alli. It's a legitimate name AND a pun

I thought Alucard was a Dhampir! Human mother, Dracula dad...isn't that...

Take a look here.

Any name that sounds like it belongs to the real-world region where the most famous vampire legends come from. Something Slavic or Roma would probably work quite well.

I would name my Dhampir: Alucard Von MC-Satan B%%~*-slap the 3rd, esquire.

But no seriously, probably something like, Carvastan or Emelric. Something that at least tries to sound old and Romanian.

Shadow Lodge

I think the first thing we need to know is what is the culture you are having him come out of? Is he another tragic victim of ustalavic vampire attacks or is he the odd son of a voodoo witch doctor from deep in the mwangi expanse?

Since it hasn't been mentioned: Rayne, which is Unisex Slavic/Romanian for Lost One.

Sovereign Court

Bill Compton?

=masculine&type_usage=1&operator_usage=&value_usage[]=ancient-scandinavian]Ancient Scandinavian and =masculine&type_usage=1&operator_usage=&value_usage[]=anglo-saxon]Ancient Anglo-Saxon, both links are filtered for masculine gender. I'm actually playing for once and really leaning towards a dhampir bone oracle--good luck!

Edit: f@%* it, the links look like hell...at least they work...

? Sarcasm or being serious?

most people immediately think of the Game Bloodrayne... though I will Also state Rayne does lean more to the feminine side of Slavic/Romanian names.

I guess now is a bad time to mention that supposedly Vlad The Impaler (aka Dracula). Supposedly used Rayne as the surname for his Bastard sons and daughters...

Well, the people behind Bloodrayne had to get it from somewhere........

Appearently it was a happy accident as they originally named it Bloodrain discovered there already was a game titled that, changed it to Bloodrayne and decided they liked the aound of it and named the character that. Her 'project' name was scarlet.

Or at least that is what was stated when the creators were interviewed.
