They tried to make Cosmo illegal. All the sponsored bills have been dropped after each sponsor started having nightmares about monstrous mustache-like aliens coming after them every night.

I hope the gaming spaces have a little less of a "din" than last year. It got hard to hear in games sometimes due to the acoustics in the rooms where gaming was happening.
Oh. Anyone up for an all-nighter again? Some of you guys were in an all nighter with myself and Robert in the conference room last year. That was a fun game.

For those curious, below is the PaizoCon 2012 sign up/close schedule. I'm eagerly awaiting to see what is in store and after some research it appears mid-June is a possibility for completing signs ups.

Little update, I have about 50 events entered so far. I estimate it's roughly a third of the spread sheet, though I don't know how many events total there are.
Are these the lottery events?
Were we supposed to have already submitted those?
Cuz I...uh...haven't.
Is it too late?
(No too big of a deal if it is. Just means there'll be a couple more games available in open gaming :)

We didn't really do any sort of open call for events this year. The schedule is absolutely jam packed as is and at this point pretty final. There is definitely dedicated space for open gaming.
Um, why not? That's what a lot of us were waiting for. I had an event to enter for the lottery, with prizes from LPJ Design and Fire Mountain Games for players.

I'm a little curious, too.
I don't have anything specific to promote or anything, and I know that the main focus is Pathfinder Society, but for the last three PaizoCons, I've taken the time to create one or two new scenarios for more unusual systems, specifically to run at PaizoCon.
I thought I was, in my own little way, actually contributing something that at least a dozen or so people enjoyed and making a great convention just that tiniest bit better.
And honestly, in terms of disasters in my life, this doesn't make the top 20, but I am feeling a little unappreciated here. :(

Same here. I'm not mad, but I am very disappointed. There was a precedent set with the way con games were handled the last few years, and then things were done differently this year without informing us.

After discussing this, we've come up with a solution we hope will work for this year.
Once I have the schedule entered into the website, I will make a thread in the PaizoCon forums with any available times that are still open. It will be first come first serve for signing up to GM a game during one of those times. Your event will be added to the open registration schedule and attendees will be able to sign up on a first come first serve basis to the games. These will be ticketed non-lottery events.
This will also give you an opportunity to see event schedule and figure out when/if you want to run a game.
thanks

Might that also give the Pathfinder Society GMs an opportunity to run or play in a game outside their committed schedule on behalf of Paizo? I know a number of them get frustrated that they can't see the schedule of lottery events before committing to how many slots they're going to run for Pathfinder Society. This could at least present some alternative games they could fit into their schedule.

That's very accommodating of you. Thanks, Sara! :)

Huh, that's really kind of awesome.
Thanks!
Just out of curiosity (seriously, this is a question, not nerd rage. (I save my nerd rage for things that are really important, like Lucas changing his movie so Greedo shoots first)) But, I am curious: *How* did the lottery events fill up before there was even an open call? Are these all Pathfinder Society games run by the overabundance of volunteers? Games run by Paizo staff and friends? Special invite? Just people being proactive and emailing in submissions before an announcement?
I seem to remember past conventions having difficulty filling the schedule even with open submissions. What's changed?

The schedule is basically all up and ready. I've got a few more edits to the schedule, but its mainly adding guests to panels and typos in names and what not.
Cheers!

Combination of a bunch of things. One is that we have more employees than previous years and most are running minimum 1 event. Another is timing issues on our part. PFS is its own separate beast and is not part of the issue. The non-Paizo people that did get on the schedule contacted us regarding stuff, mostly when we were already talking with them about other convention details some of them just being proactive.

Hey folks it's obvious this is my first PaizoCon event, so can you help me with answering 4 basic questions and an observation? (Oh, wait this question make 5 questions) :P
So the event sign up is at Friday June 14, 4:00?
What if you have a buddy registered?
Will he need to sign up at this same time to get to game with you?
I'm thinking my friend needs to register, because some of the non-PFS gaming sessions only have 5 slots and they will be very popular (like Erik Mona's).
Do people like GMs get to sign up before the masses, so in actuality there may not be all the slots open on Friday?

Shadowborn |

Monkplayer, you'll want to choose your events in the lottery before the 14th. Otherwise you'll be registering for what's left after the lottery is over. The point you make about popular games is the whole reason the lottery exists. Hence the reason the con page states "Signup for any remaining open slots will begin Fri, Jun 14, 2013, 02:00 PM."
So if you want into Mona's game, or anything else that catches your fancy, register your buddy and rank your games.

BTW, I currently don't have anything scheduled for much of Friday, so I'll probably be at the Reaper painting area or wandering around chatting with people. I'll probably add some informal "sit and chat an hour" times to my Friday schedule, feel free to make note of that if you don't have anything going on during those times and want to talk about games or minis or whatever. :)

Man that is super tempting. Last year, Sean was pretty bagged by the time his scheduled game rolled around on saturday and asked if we could just sit and chat. It was an absolute pleasure to pick his brain about game design and I highly recommend the experience if you can manage it.
Even if we wasted a bit of the start with a few provocative questions about two weapon fighting and monks...

You can find me in the store that morning if you need another opportunity to punch me in the face Sean. :)
Noted. ;)

Hey, when you go to the psychiatrist, you can spend the hour talking about sports or about your problems, either way you're paying $100. :)

Sean has a very soothing voice. Some* attribute his calming demeanor to a near death PaizoCon experience!
* That would be Sean, himself.
Thrills, chills, and hotel bar drinks! All this awaits you and much, much more!

As a lucky beneficiary of a few spare SKR (and Jodi!) moments in the Sunday morning seating area at PaizoCon 2011 (my wife got a chance a year later, during what was scheduled to be a Saturday Beginner Box slot), I can personally attest that this venture is totally worth your while. :-)
