Traits

Advice

Hi all! Im new to the boards and new to the Pathfinder game all together and I have a question. Im creating a human sorcerer and Im looking for a trait that will increase the save DC for enchantment or illusion (preferably enchantment) spells. I've searched and searched and cant find anything like this. DO you guys have any ideas, and what book I might need to get to find this?

Well...My oppinion is that if you want to mess with people more effectively you just go before they do. With many forms of illusion they have to interact wo disbealeave and most people are not foing to risk the wall really being made out of writhing arms, they are just foing to find away around. So I would recoment getting reactionary and some other initiative type trait

Yeah, I agree, and Reactionary is my other trait. Just looking for something to boost my enchantment and illusionary magics

There are feats that increase the DC for spells of certain schools (Spell Focus). As the feats only offers +1 to the DC, and traits generally aren't as strong as feats, I don't think any exist that do what you want to do.

Traits are only supposed to have about the power of one feat. Since the feats for this ability only give a +1, having a trait which gives a +1 would be a little overpowered. I would look for a trait that gives you an ability or skill the sorcerer doesn't already have, or something that will help round out the group. Personally, for spellcasters I like the one that gives a bonus to concentration checks.

Traits are really half a feat.

If your DM is okay with homebrew, you might suggest a trait that increase a specific subschool of illusion spells (say, glamor). That would seem to be in the vein of a trait (though a powerful one, if combined with certain feats and class features).

You might also look for traits that apply bonuses to Bluff or Diplomacy checks. Many Enchantments and Illusions are affected by Bluff / Diplomacy checks.

Ok, wow, thanks a lot guys!

Charming, Eastern Mysteries, Honeyed Words?

Silver Crusade

My sugguestion, if you can't find the trait, ask your GM if you can invent it, get his approval.

Homebrewing and player agency is after all, the heart and soul of RPGs.

Just go Fey bloodline and take Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus in Enchantment. That's a total of +4 to the DC for you compulsion subschool spells, which are most of the best. Other than just boosting your charisma as high as possible, that's pretty much the best you can do.

I just made a great Illusionist with a heavy flavoring of Enchantment... he's a Gnome Wizard (Illusionist) who took a single level of Crossblooded Sorcerer (Fey and Infernal) first. Took the traits Excitable and Trickster.

Lots of bonuses there.

Thanks for all the advice!

I would recommend grabbing Magical Lineage. If the game will only run to low to mid levels pick a spell you will use a lot. If it will run to higher levels you can choose a higher level spell to make it significantly more powerful.

At its most basic this will let you Heighten your spell for 1 level for free giving you +1DC on one spell. Making Persistent a +1 adjustment means you can start using it earlier on your preferred spell.

If you think you will reach 15th level then with Spell Perfection you get to freely Quicken one sixth level spell.

There is this trait. Unfortunately, you have to be a dwarf for it, and dwarves have -2 charisma and are thus terrible sorcerors. Though, dwarf does have +2 wis, so you could take the bloodline that makes sorcerer wisdom-based (Empyreal?).

Charming is even better, but requires you to constantly ask the DM if X NPC is sexually attracted to your PC.
