didn't see it mentioned so i apologize if i missed it
why couldn't you just use a reach weapon made for a small character (in order to use it 1 handed with a -2 penalty) and another non-reach weapon in your off hand? you them threaten all squares with reach and without.
i have a dwarven paladin that does this with threatening with a shield (improved shield bash) and a dwarven longhammer made for a gnome.

Have you guys been studying the dark arts of thread necromancy?
Anyway, thanks for the advice guys, I've been playing the Paladin for a while now, I'm using a Bardiche and Armor Spikes.
It's a bit expensive to enchant two different weapons (especially when you can't use both of them on a full attack), but all things considered, I think it's the best way to go.
I don't even have to give major enhancements to my armor spikes, just enough for it to stay useful. My main weapon is still the Bardiche, although I do plan on getting a cestus as a secondary weapon).

where is the whole use it one-handed with a -2 penalty? Last I heard you just took a -2 not reduced the number of hands.
weapon size is where the -2 comes from from using a weapon 1 size category different than yours, and shows that a 2 handed weapon for a small character is used as a 1 handed weapon for a medium character.

and according to the link i posted, you get a cumulative -2 penalty for every size difference between what you should use, and what you are using. hence the -4 penalty to use a tiny bastard sword as a light weapon.
you could use a large sized bastard sword (if you had the exotic feat) in 2 hands with a -2 penalty to hit if you wanted. extra damage for a penalty to hit.

It counts as a Two-Handed Martial Weapon though.
Using a weapon in two hands doesn't make it a two-handed weapon! A bastard sword remains a one-handed weapon used in two hands, just like a longsword.
The special ability of bastard swords is that they may be used two-handed as martial weapons, even though they are (one-handed) exotic weapons.

There's already a thread for the bastard sword (answer was a large one needs 3 hands to use as a martial weapon for a med creature or have the exotic weapon feat to avoid exotic penalty for using it in two hands). Argue it there please.
Thanks for the other ideas on threatening adjacent. Most helpful. I didn't realize you could quickdraw in an attack of opportunity. Awesome if that works.

In your first paragraph, the 'answer' is the opposite.
In your second paragraph, you don't threaten with a sheathed weapon, so a sheathed weapon can't be used to take an AoO; Quick Draw doesn't change that.
So, 0 for 2!
