So, I'm busy finally converting my 3.5 stuff to Pathfinder and learning a little bit about the world of Golorian (as I'm considering migrating my campaign, there)... And, I think I've noticed something strange...
I can't find any swarms of locusts in the Pathfinder Reference Document.
Do locusts exist in Golorian?
As best as I can tell Osirion resembles Egypt and I would've thought that locusts swarms could be summoned with an insect plague.
Seems like wasps are much more common.
Anyone know anything about this? Locusts in Golorian? Do they exist?

Locusts absolutely exist. Both in Osirion and other places where you might expect to find them, and up north near the Worldwound, where there are a tond of locust demons buzzing around following a locust-themed demon lord called Deskari.
To my knowledge, we haven't yet published stats for a locust swarm. If that's true, we probably should do so soon. :)

as a related request please make it so that swarms could be animal companions, a swarm of scarabs or ravens is what I was looking forward to for some druids as example (Egyptean themed character, or a druid surrounded by ravens and wearing feather cape)
Right now, no rule seems to allow such bird or bug swarms even to druids, and that is something I find personally troubling, bird swarms especially would be great for some concepts, doves, ravens, crows, owls, or some songbirds would be great for a concept of a character being surrounded by lots of these.
It could be used for a scene as in The Birds, or as something more fey/fairy tale like, as in case of Snowwhite being surrounded by songbirds.

Thank you, Erik. I appreciate the quick response.
Looking forward to official Pathfinder locust swarms.
The Worldwound sounds interesting. I'm really looking forward to getting to know Golorian!

Well when I DM and want too use a swarm of birds I just use the swarm of bats stats and remove the wounding effect.
If you want a swarm of scarabs how about using the stats for a swarm of cockroaches.
I agree. However, I thought that perhaps the decision to change Insect Plague to a swarm of wasps, instead of locusts, might have been saying something about Golorian.
I wonder why the great spellcasters of Golorian's past developed Insect Plague with wasps as the default, instead of some other insect? What prompted the spell to develop focused on wasps rather than locusts?
To me, this could be a minor clue to the history of spellcasting in Golorian.

One of the reasons we haven't published a locust swarm yet is due partially to the way we present most swarms; as half-page entries on pages next to another variant of the same vermin.
Locust swarms don't really have a "giant locust" option yet, so we'd need to make one up. And furthermore... while I'm certainly not above making changes and exceptions to how real-world animals function in the game... making locusts into flesh-eating monsters is going a bit too far for me. If we DO stat up a locust swarm, it'll probably be something brand new. With a name like "Crimson Locust Swarm" or something like that.

Thank you, James.
Hadn't even considered the idea whether or not they were carnivorous.
Even without being carnivores, they can be quite scary.

But, that answers my question... Golorian's spellcasters developed insect plague to summon wasps because they are flesh-eaters.

Raven Swarm already exists
but unless rules clearly state/allow swarms to be used as animal companions it doesn't matter if it gets houseruled, so I hope it will happen soon in an official way

But James, don't you realize that giant locusts are a menace that could result in the total annihilation of mankind?

What's good enough for Peter Graves isn't necessarily good enough for Paizo.
