Bones Kickstarter HERE

Reaper's Bones KickStarter is a project to ramp up the production of the Bones line and get you the game models you want now!

Why are we doing this?

Since the launch of Bones in March, a full third of the figures we ship are Bones Gaming Miniatures. We have 8 pages of Bones suggestions going in our forum. It's clear that you, our fans, want more of these Bones figures. And why not? They're awesome sculpts at a terrific price! What's not to love?
As it turns out, they're also really expensive to produce. The mold costs alone are astronomical. In order to grow this line, we can do it slow and steady over the next several years, or we can defer to you guys and launch a bunch of new ones as soon as possible.
By the end of the year, we anticipate having 30 products in the Bones line. What this Kickstarter will do is at least double the Bones line to 60 total models: character models, new sculpts, big monsters, the sky's pretty much the limit.
All we need to kickstart this thing is your support.
What Do I Get For Supporting You?

We have a number of opportunities available for our supporters.
These include, but are not limited to, various apparel items, a chance to receive each of the new 30 models, a Kickstarter-exclusive Sophie model, Design-Your-Own-Miniature packages, not to mention some of the most valuable Crown Jewel one-of-a-kind items from the Reaper archives. (And we even have some incredible stretch goals in mind – we remain ever optimistic!)
Something for everyone who loves miniature gaming.

I only JUST got a clean kickstarter slate.

Oh well, I'm in!

Scarab Sages

I'm SO in... love the Bones mini's I've bought so far.

Dotted so I can come back later.

Lantern Lodge

I just want that Sophie. Rowr!

Funded. Love the Bones figures I've bought so far, and can't wait for these too.

More pre-painted Legendary Encounters, please!

LE should end up being symbiotic with Bones - the same molds work for both figures, so we can split the tooling costs across two lines and make both lines cheaper in the long run! But we gotta get some new molds made first, and Bones was the faster way to do that.

Am so needing to wait until I see where my finances are before I commit, but I want in on this one so bad, lol. Just managed to clear my Kickstarter commitments too, lol.

Yay! Okay, let me take a look at the Kickstarter.

Sweet, pledged.

We're over halfway to our second Stretch Goal - The Fire Giants!

Check back every few days to see what we've added (Or pledge a token amount and get automatic updates - and if you like what you see, you can increase your pledge later!)

Liberty's Edge

Wow, the quality and detail on these are great! Almost makes me want to start painting minis!

One question though ... why are these not on standard round bases? It looks like a few are, but most are on irregularly shaped bases. From a game mechanics standpoint, where you want minis on correct bases (large, Huge etc) that "fill" the right number of squares on the battle mat, round bases are kind of a must, aren't they?

I LOVE the look of these minis, but I'm afraid those irregular bases make these pretty much a "no go" for me :(

Sovereign Court

The newest stretch goal is the big black dragon Ebonwrath for 10 bucks.

Here's a thread about the base style reaper uses, and why:

The integral bases are easy to cut off if that is a concern.

Robert Hawkshaw wrote:

Or, just glue them onto 25mm round bases. I bought a big bag of these from GW a few years back -- as I look at the GW web store, they sell them both with and without slots.

I support cheap plastic and getting a bunch for less than $1.25 each is a pretty good deal.

Hmmm... looks like a good reason to sell plasma.

Sovereign Court

Just hit 115k, so the $10 dollar big black dragon is in, next goal is 4 more BBEGs, and then a $10 dollar pair of frost giants.

Come on people, we can do it!

Spoiler:
Get me 4 more BBEGs!
Oh, you too if you want them.

I want to support, I just don't know what tier to pick.... My wallet and sense of frugality suggests a lower amount, my painting hobbyist within says GIVE ME ALL THE MINIATURES EVER PLZ KTHXBAI

Scarab Sages Reaper Miniatures

Another Stretch Goal Met - More character sculpts revealed! There's now 85 minis with your $100 pledge, and we're showing what takes it that to 89 minis!

I would suggest the vampire $100 level. As Bryan said, this gets you 85 miniatures, which are quite a lot if you like painting. This also comes out to be less than $1.20 per miniature and if you live in the US or Canada, no shipping so your frugal nature should be happy with that.

At this level for a little more money you can get some giants and/or dragon, so there is that as well.

Or maybe that is just me. :D

Scarab Sages Reaper Miniatures

I just wanted to chime in and remind people that are on the fence to check back every day - we have reached a new goal, and therefore added something new, every day!

Sovereign Court

The frost giants are in, on deck is a group of 4 elves added for free to the vampire levels, and coming up after that are two starter paint sets available at any level.

So for a 1 dollar pledge you can get reaper paints for a 1.50 a bottle and free shipping instead of 3.29 a bottle :)

Alright I gave in. Bah, what's the point of throwing money in a savings account these days anyway?

Bah!! I want to give and give but can only afford $15 at the moment. If I come back on next paycheck can I give to the $100 level less my original $15? Or would it be a 2nd transaction at full $100?

Kickstarter won't bill your credit card until the 25th of August - although it may do a pre-authorization check. Money won't change hands until the project ends. So if you start at 15 and then go to 100, you will only ever be charged for 100.

WOO!! Thanks Robert!! I'll slap down $15 now and then I can move on the $100 next paycheck.

No problem. Just make sure when you increase the dollar amount that you also change your pledge level from the "Ghast" level to the "Vampire" Level - easy to do, but you don't want to forget and miss the freebies (changing your pledge level will increase the dollar amount automatically, but increasing the dollar amount doesn't automatically increase the pledge level).

Sovereign Court

The elves are in, the paints are being funded and after that it's dwarves.

Orcpocalypse coming after the dwarves! They look very cool. This KS is becoming *very* smexy indeed.

The 9normally $70 in metal) dragon for $10 alone is all forms of hawtness...

And you can get the orcs without a big pledge, same as the paints.

It's rolling along nicely. People have been comparing its progress to the sedition wars kickstarter.

This looks so incredibly awesome. It's silly, but my main concern now is that if I donate (at the Vampire level) I will never ever finish painting these.
And there are certainly a number of them that are less interesting to me, but overall, there's so much goodness that I'm finding it hard to resist.
Woe is me.

Well the unpainted bones miniatures would probably make good ghost versions. :D

So i just upped to $138...that should give me 1 of the paint sets and either Fire or Ice Giants correct? What would be the total pledge amount if I wanted both paint sets, both Fire and Ice Giants, and Ebonwrath? Actually...is there any way we can a get a breakdown of what the pledge amount should be for any/all of those?

There is no tool built in for figuring out how much you want to pledge, you have to add it up manually.

If you wanted the giants paints and dragon, that would be:

  • Beginner Paint set = 18
  • Undead Paint set = 18
  • Fire Giants = 10
  • Frost Giants = 10
  • Ebonwrath - Black Dragon = 10
  • Vampire level pledge = 100

Total: $166

If you want to add the Orcpocalypse, that's another 25 bucks so, $191.

If you live in the US or Canada, you don't need to worry about shipping as it is free.

At the end of the kickstarter Reaper will send out a survey asking how you want your pledge money divvied up.

There should also be a mechanism for topping up a pledge (likely paypal) if you forgot to add something or miss the last day.

Sure! We're working on a tool that will be helpful to people that miss out on Options and such, and within Kickstarter's rules, will allow us to accommodate last-minute pledges, even after they officially stop accepting them. I can't give details now, except to say that it's best for the project if you pledge now, and not wait, as dollars pledged now count towards goals, and dollars added after it closes do not. Kickstarter will stop letting you adjust your pledge at 5pm Central time on 8/25.

Cool thanks!

Damn you all for coming up with such an awesome concept.... $15 donated for now. More to follow, I am sure :)

Sovereign Court

I threw in my 100 bucks for 89 minis, soon to be 93 minis. Hafta break out my paints again.

Sovereign Court

The dwarves are funded and added to the vampire level, 9k until the Orcpocalypse and then the next stretch goal is four female adventurers (bard, paladin, fighter and fighter-mage) sculpted by Werner Klocke.

This is wishful thinking on my part, but, any plans for a monk mini in this run?

Ok, sold, I'm in for at least $133. I need the giants, dragon and who can resist Urban Legend versions of Sophie... ;) we'll see if orcpocalypse wears me down or not...

Pendin Fust wrote:

They are only revealing two stretch goals at a time. That said, I think they are likely to be picking models that sell well - so they can safely do big production runs. So stuff from their Dark Heaven lines top 100 sellers (http://www.reapermini.com/RetailSupport/RackContents/00201) and their Warlord line top 50 (http://www.reapermini.com/RetailSupport/RackContents/00140) might show up. There are two monks in the top 100 sellers.

They might also pick out some of their really well sculpted monsters (like the orcs and bugbears) that people want lots of, but cost a lot in metal because they are bulky. Their gnolls for instance are really good, but pricy and only one has been made into a bones mini. So I expect to see some "these would sell well if they were cheaper" minis in the mix too.

I've also noticed that there are a bunch of dark elves in the warlord top 50 list and no dark elves so far. I think there are driders in the video, which is a hint as well.

Ooooo come on people let's hit those stretch goals!

Klocke's Classics and Mind Your "Manor"s are on the horizon...

Painted version of the ogre in the Mind Your "Manors" goal.

Sovereign Court

The Klocke minis are funded! The next stretch goal has been revealed. It's a combo goal. Townsfolk minis added to the vampire pledge, and a wicked miniatures case for 25 bucks available to every one.

I think this goal puts the vampire pledge at 1 dollar per mini.
