Dear Alastor,

To answer your first question, I am an member of the Order of the Pike, and seek like all others of my order to rid the world of monstrosities that threaten the civilized lands. While we are a smaller order, we still have influence and maintain the greatness of our nation. Secondly if ever the orders of the pathfinder society should cross those of the sanctity of Thrune or my order I would not hesitate to set thoughts of the Pathfinders aside like one of my closest friend Arul recently did when given a choice to enter lawful contract with a Demon or follow the society. Unlike many of my other friends, I did not question his motive one bit and wondered why more of my friends did not consider it. I myself was caught up by the Demon wanting things his way over the way of Cheliax so could not enter the bargain, but should we have been able to overcome that small disagreement I am sure this could have been of great value. View this in the greater context of the question of the Paracountess. While she may not directly hold her position as she did, her heart is still serving the greater needs of Cheliax, and her power as well. Her Place is never far from the very heart of our nation, and years of working in her employ while under the auspex of the Society have shown me that while working for the society, I was always more working for the Paracountess and for the goals of Great Cheliax, long may she reign.

*Doubt is obvious is the little gnomes face, but a slight smile begins to cross his face as he reaches for the potion*

Surely a lawliful mister Jelly Ax likes yerself would not hurt a wittle gnome like me. I will gobble that yummy potion right up.

1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15Bluff vs Sense motive check

For successfull Sense motive:
He definitely plans on giving that potion to someone/thing else.

OOC: With a Demon?

Posting as Alastor Henderthane.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25.

Alastor frowns, but continues. "Excellent. Now that we have fortified your cunning, we can address this business of falsified evidence. Hopefully I can explain it in the next three minutes, before the potion wears off."

Spoilers for Fortress of the Nail follow. You have been warned!:
Alastor places his hands on his hips as he looks at his gnomish counterpart. "I will not comment on what tactics you used to free the Paracountess other than to remind you that lying is a sin against Iomedae and all sins are punished eventually. At this, Alastor sharply snaps his index finger once to emphasize how severely he disapproves of lies. Regardless of your methods, the evidence that Paracountess Dralneen was innocent could not be refuted; someone had framed her for treason, and she was wrongfully imprisoned as a result. By collecting evidence the Pathfinder Society had the power to secure her release. Whether or not you chose to exercise that power is, of course, your prerogative as an agent of the Pathfinder Society. However, it is fact that the power existed."

As he speaks, Alastor begins pacing back and forth. "More broadly, the Chelish legal system is a necessarily complex structure that serves a valuable societal purpose. Within it, all men are equal under the eyes of the holy God Claw. It is, or should be, the envy of all other nations on Golarion for its ability to encompass all possible situations. However, the legal system is vulnerable to those who would disobey the law and, through word or deed, obfuscate the truth. Alastor stops his pacing and flourishes his index finger to emphasize his next point. "This is why the Hellknights are so important; our holy mission is to spread the rule of law, to root out falsehood, and to punish transgressors. This is why we exist; to be a model for the lawful citizen, to interpret the law, and to ensure that the law is applied as it is intended to be. We must be a shining example of law and order to all, and by our actions both model appropriate obedience and punish those who transgress. It is a great task, and thus each order focuses on one equally important portion of that task. Does that make sense to you, sir?"

Seemingly noticing the incongruity in Lini's comments for the first time, Alastor jumps as if startled and turns first to the newcomer, then Lini. "A what!?"

Are the rumors of the Paracountess true?
I think that my Mistress Amara Li might sell me to her soon given the Lantern Lodge's current issues. Also the three atonements I had to receive this year may have something to do with the transaction as well.

Hey my tictacs are awesomerest.

vague spoilers:
When birds attacked a town I diguesed as a bird and saved those people, but that was after I extorted their life savigns from them. Plus my fibbiness save that paracounter lady. Then I also fibbed my way through riddlingport and saved that hostage from pirate by lying my way through the pirate ranks.
See My fibbiness saved people. Iodine will only clean my booboos. It does not care if I fib a little now and then. If us Zarniests were not so usefull the Decembervicars would not have us.

Sheesh it is just a demon Alabaster. They are push overs. I never met a demon that did not go down like a kitten from a good ole' colorspray. Or maybe those are devils. I get'em confuzzeled. Either way vampires, demons, devils, er whatever just give'em a taste of Rainbow and let that super white guy's stuff sort'em out.

Sovereign Court

The Lady sighs while the gnome speaks, fluttering her fan in such a way as to draw additional attention to herself.

"I believe you misunderstood the Signifer, little one. That potion was for you to drink, not to keep. We all know you are hiding it, because the effects of fox's cunning would have made your speech intelligible, which was obviously the reason why he gave it to you, so you might be able to grasp the common tongue long enough to converse with him. Now stop wasting the Signifer's time. Either consume the potion or kindly refuse to and return it to him. It's for your own good, as you are making a fool of yourself without its help."

Sczarni

*obviously insulted*
Gah! I am plenty smart enough to figure things out. Because I was not edumacated like you upity up up pomps doesn't mean a thing. I still knows stuffs. You guys say you are so great with you laws and stupid rules. *mumbling* I hate rules. But I know what you Jelly Axes are about. You think cause you have a rule for it you are perfect. But rules are not....*looking for a word to decribe absolute* awesome. Yourses rules send people to hell because people use the rules to break the rules and con... contra.. do the opposite.

All those Well knight Lecturers get in the way of fixering the problems your laws have when people unrulefully use your rules against you.

You guyeses are walking talking oppositenesses of what you say you are.

*This giant rant was an attempt to hide the potion in his pocket and sneak out when he was out of sight*

Sovereign Court

Lady Gabrielle walks around the ranting gnome as she speaks, gently wafting her fan in time with her speech.

"What you find yourself so angry with, little one, is not rules. What you are angry with is the concept of respect. Obviously, you never bothered to learn any, just as you lacked the desire to learn the common tongue. And now, no one can take you seriously."

The Lady closes her fan, standing behind the gnome to point at Signifer Henderthane with it. "Look at him. Do you know why he is taken seriously? It is because he was gentlemanly enough to help remedy the damage your disrespect was doing. He tried to help you, little one, by giving you the means to be taken seriously, if even for three minutes. And what did you do? You simply saw gold, did you not? All you could think about was how many coins you could trade his assistance for, as if he were another unconscious person you had set your colorful lights upon. In the future, little one, consider accepting aid instead of turning it into gold. And you would do well to learn some respect," she instructs, tapping her fan on his little shoulder twice as she punctuates the last word of her lesson.

Perception DC 35:
Where did the potion go? Did Lady Gabrielle just lift it?

She steps back to where she was before her instruction, obviously ready to table this discussion and move on.

Looking across the expanse at the young Kita who expresses worry of being sold I say:
"many people find that there is a price to which they will sell themselves dear, do not worry so much about the fact of sale, but rather what the purpose of your nature is."

Then to the incredulous statement of my fellow Signifier I say,
"demons and devils are often pawns of the more powerful, we have a whole order who uses them directly friend, I don't see what you would be surprised about? Come to think about it, it may have been a **redacted for spoiler alert**"

finally to the Lady Gabrielle d'Apcher I say,

"the difference between a pig and a pleasant stuffed pork dinner is the cut of the knife and the chef. Much the same with our friend the gnome. The important thing to note about our friend the gnome is no amount of use of a knife nor the skills of the greatest chef is going to fix the problems there. Pat the little fellow on the head and tell him someone left a gold piece hiding under the table leg of the quickest ship of of town and then use the fan to waft the stench of him away after he has left. "

Ah, the foolishness of the unfortunate. However, my lady, I beg of you, do not discount the creature for his greed. Goodness knows, the system of item acquirement set up by then Decemvirate has made things hard enough to obtain what is neccessary for surviving the missions of unknown long-term goals.

Dark Archive

IF anyone is willing I would like to know if Cheliax will be booted from the Society or not. Worried minds wish to know.

Sovereign Court

Lady Gabrielle smiles warmly at Edelsmirge and Lorthalis, revealing her agreement with their sentiments. "The woman is correct," she says to Pontificor. "Now run along, visit whichever fence you were thinking of, and collect what is due to you."

She turns and walks away from the gnome, approaching Lorthalis. "Did I appear too cross with that one? I do hope the lesson has half a chance at being learned. If, as you say, the Decemvirate does make it hard to acquire the tools of survival, that is hardly an excuse for theft. Perhaps the Society needs to chance its ways? Having members so greedy as to be thieves cannot be a boon to the group's reputation, am I correct?"

OOC: Also, it looks like Cheliax is sticking around. Nothing to worry about.

Sczarni

Gah, I just wanted to feed it to my madmonkey's! * As he makes a scene throing various things out of his pocket that attracted his short attenetion span* Flabby Gabby why donchya marry those Jelly axes if you love'em so much. Although I will not go to your wedding and save you when you get attacked by monsters. He gave that potion to me not you. You go hideded it under your fence post. That is stupid to plant potions they do not grow. Potions are ment for magiciness.

*As he leaves for something more exciting. He state a loud.* That no fun lady is pretty dumb.

There is no better reward then to serve ones country. I do not need to be bribed to support Cheliax my most sacred homeland or my beloved Korvosa. For the Empire!
