I wanted to gauge interest in a Lawful Good company--straight as an arrow, ours means (not just our ends) define us, kind of stuff. Named after the eponymous celestial dragon, members of the company would be committed to taking the fight to evil directly, choosing to aggressively and proactively head off evil before innocents are endangered, rather than reacting to excesses.

I would imagine the company would ally with the The Great Legionnaires, and likely oppose the excesses of groups like the Order of the Thorn.

I'm inspired by my understanding of Marine culture--as a young Marine I saw our service as dedicated to protecting the nation, but doing so with a unyielding code of ethics. When I became an officer and graduated TBS, I participated in a consecration ceremony at the base chapel--every Lt who attended had their Mameluke sword blessed by the chaplain, and we were charged to use our weapons faithfully, and were consecrated as righteous warriors. Unfortunately though I did not gain the Lay On Hands ability, nor resist disease, etc. But it was a very powerful experience nonetheless :)

I want to roleplay that kind of holy warrior--pure, but also bad-ass.

Is that of interest to anyone else?

Silver Crusade Goblin Squad Member

If it doesn't work out, I think we could use some bad arse paladins in the Great Legionaries. Our military arm would welcome you (and this is coming from another probable paladin player).

Goblin Squad Member

I certainly share your interest in an alliance. I'll PM you the details to our Teamspeak so you can hop on and meet us and the 7th Veil if you are interested.

The Lictor reviewed the parchment and shook his head, discarding it into the nearby brazier that heated his sparsely-furnished room.

"Excesses?" he said to the room, "Pursuit of the law is never an excess."

Welcome on board, and look forward to some quality roleplay!

Alexander Damocles sighed. "Once again, those Hellknights forget the founding of their order was dedicated to law and law alone. I have known many a Hellknight during my days, ranging from a former rogue to a very devout Paladin of the Holy Light. Would that these Hellknights in the River Kingdoms remember that Hellknights are interested in serving the law, and may do so for whatever goals they might be. Personal glory, wealth, a belief that law is the best safeguard against corruption, whatever their purpose is, as long as it furthers the Law, they should be acceptable to the Order."

Silver Crusade Goblin Squad Member

Hellknights are any Lawful. Not all Hellknights are LE Lex Luthor type anti-villains. I've met a Paladin Hellknight in PFS. And dear God, when he met a CE Outsider.....well, it died quick. *VERY* quick.

I am inviting any interested Peace Through Vigilance members to the GL clan meeting tomorrow(or today). We will be discussing the implications of the latest blog and as a potential ally your input and ideas would be appreciated. Any PTV member is welcome to attend but I would especially love to meet Mbando. I will be extending invitations to a few other good aligned companies so this would be a great opportunity to have a good-aligned meet and greet, and possibly form some lasting bonds or discuss treaties/future meetings. Please PM me if you wish to attend and I will make sure you get our Teamspeaks details before the meeting happens.

The meeting is at 7PM PST, Wednesday June 11th. Hope to see you there.

Well, membership so far would be...me :P

I was able to connect to your TS server yesterday, and would love to chat with you folks, but I may not be able to stay up that late--I need to be on-base at beautiful Parris Island, SC, at 0545 tomorrow.

Ultimately I'm really interested in RPing strict LG behavior, but if there aren't a lot of folks that want to play that way, being in a generally good group would work. I wonder if that wouldn't be a skillful way to use CCs--have a subordinate CC company that was LG, that was part of a larger settlement that was NG/CG/LG.

I would sponsor it. GL also accepts strictly Lawful Good players. The company as a whole is neutral good but we won't force anyone to be more ore less lawful or chaotic than they want to be. A lawful good character can easily say "I refuse to take part in this" when we start laying out a more underhanded plan for defeating evil.

Wednesday, August 1st should be another Goblinworks Blog post.

If your company would like to pop onto The Golden Flask's voice chat and talk about and discuss what interesting things the blog post implies, head on over to our Mumble server: mumble.thegoldenflask.com port 61166

Festivities start at 8:30pm central (9:30pm eastern / 6:30pm pacific).

Anyone is invited to come along and don't forget to BYOB.

I would like to officially set up diplomatic relations with you fine shining tins cans :D

In mine and my associates' line of work, I anticipate that it will often help further our ends to make the lives of some specific categories of groups or individuals whom we may be hired to target (bandits in particular) into a living hell if we have the opportunity to simply say, "Hey Peace Through Vigilance, there's some bandits over here! We've followed them for a bit and they have hideouts here, here, here and here. Have fun!"

And I assume in your line of work, it will sometimes be more satisfying to see elusive enemies taken down more...covertly. Not to mention merely having a few more sets of eyes looking out for them. Especially eyes that don't have an official company tag with them to cause any sense of alarm. I also assume your methods won't involve getting your hands dirty by risking unlawful assassinations inside lawful territories. So we may be able to offer to extend your reach in that sense to people who try to hide illegitimately behind the law.

If that's not palatable to you though, maybe we'll just stick to exchanging information with you covertly, as a member of your company, rather than openly like this. And just to clarify, "openly" means through Tony, not through our actual assassin characters.

Hope to hear from you soon :D

I plan on playing a paladin most likely, I'd definitely be interested in joining up with you.

Now that this thread has been resurrected I've gotten a couple PMs from people interested in playing/RPing LG types.

Basically my tabletop group has got a Crowdforger guildpack, and our interest is on character concepts centered on lawful good, martial themes. Basically strict LG, aimed towards warfighting, once that's in the game.

Goblin Squad Member

To our new members:

When I first submitted the name of the guild to Ryan, I used my tabletop group's name, "Stormcrow Co" but then when other people started expressing interest (and we realized Peace Through Vigilance" was a more Pathfinder appropriate name) I wrote back to Ryan asking to change the guild name, but he hasn't responded yet.

So for now, please vote on the Land Rush poll for Stormcrow Co. while I get this straightened out.

awesome stuff lays ahead

MBando, as a fan of Paladins, I think this is a cool idea.

Goblinworks Executive Founder

The Knights of the Crusader Road would welcome the friendship of Peace Through Vigilance.

Some updates:

We've established diplomatic ties with the Empyrean Order. Don't know exactly what that will look like when operationalized in game, but they're a pro-social, good aligned group, and so we have generally allied interests. Hopefully as a full on, LG settlement we'll bring something special to the table.

@CJ Solo: Thank you :) What's your character concept to PFO?

@Tarondor: We'd mos def be interested. We don't have a separate website for Peace Through Vigilance--hoping we get subforums here pretty soon. But if you have a site, or just want to talk here, cool.

I also think the seventh veil would be a really good charter company to ally with as well. they seem to be taking the new player help approach.

I have a great personal respect and admiration for Mbando.

I meant it when I said it - to the extent that I've seriously considered joining Peace Through Vigilance with my Paladin in-game.

I can't speak for The Seventh Veil with respect to an alliance, but I personally would welcome such a thing.

Goblin Squad Member

The Keepers of the Circle would be glad to call the members of Peace Through Vigilance friends. Our Keepers of Steel and Light in particular would probably be keen on growing a relationship.

Like Nihimon, I can't speak for everyone in our group, but I can assuredly affirm goodwill and say that I would personally move to solidify any working relationship between us.

Goblin Squad Member

First off, OHH RAH fellow Marine.

While myself, I don't play many paladin's cause I tend more towards chaotic measures to achieve good outcomes, I respect and am intrigued by your dedication to the LG practices. IF i get the chance to play multiple characters and get around to making a paladin, I would consider a place in your Co. If not, The Holderhek Clan follows the same end results, though not always by the same means, and would be willing to negotiate terms of a friendship or sorts.

Is this a guild that you'd like added to the Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links list? I haven't seen it mentioned before :)

nihimimon, it is no seceret that i highly respect you, nothing would please me more than to see you on a paladin in peace through vigilance with me :)

Goblin Squad Member

@Darsch: I've posted in 7thV's forums.

@Nihimon: Thank you sir. If you feel the need to hunt down and smite evil, you'd be welcome :)

@Hroderich: Sounds good.

@Milo: Urrrrrrr! What MOS? (enlisted infantry/tank officer myself). Like I said, if you feel like you're called to smite evil, we'd be happy to talk to you. :)

And thanks. I am very fortunate that I (mostly) learned to stop being "that guy" on the forums right before a bunch of new people showed up.

Goblin Squad Member

Our Ring of Light's got dedicated Paladin warriors inbound who would probably be overly excited to see another group of militant holy men working the River Kingdoms. I know Leo for sure would be up for armored high fives and evil-rousting.

Is it acceptable to you to go coursing for evil monsters? I've always been fuzzy on LG. Those could be fun events though, I think.

awesome, I probably missed it, so hard to keep track of everything going on in the forums.

Ryan fixed my name goof-up on the poll--we are now officially listed as "Peace Through Vigilance" in the guild land rush poll.

TY, Ryan.

Goblin Squad Member

Aeternum, like TEO is a good aligned organization. If you ever wish to talk about amiable relations (as much as can be talked about given limited game information) I would be honored to hear from your organization.

You can always get a hold of me through here, our Aeternum recruitment thread, or PM me through Pax Gaming

Goblin Squad Member

Mbando just remember when you are charging the enemy your smite evil doesn't come in 120 mm, although with the amount of paladins we are looking at fielding the enemy will probably feel like thats what got em.

Goblin Squad Member

I'd rather fight Paladins than angry Marines. I read Pirate Coast, I know what you did to Tripoli (and 10K places after that ;) ). :P

Goblin Squad Member

MBando. I don't have a lot of solid character ideas yet as I'm watching the developement of the game to see where it goes, exspecially in the lore department.

However, I am a fan of Iomadae and Knights of Ozum. So it is safe to say my character will have connections to both of those. :)

Heheh all this Marines talk makes me worried over mentioning what branch I worked for. >.>

Goblin Squad Member

Well CJ, if you think you'd like to smite evil in a proactive, our means define us sort of way, you'd be welcome with us. And if not as one of us, perhaps as an ally--that works as well.

PS: I never put much stock in service rivalry.

Goblin Squad Member

I grew up USAF, work with soldiers/sailors/marines - we all see service rivalry as fun, never serious. It'd be like hating your cousins because they're redheads or something, if we really meant it. Mostly, everyone teases each other. I've noticed most people in the organizations I've been with have pretty thick skins and don't take teasing seriously, but I've learned to tone it down when I'm not positive how well it will be received.

My roommate is former army, I'm would be Navy but got medically disqualified so was never able to join. i was literally stepping onto the bus to ship out to basic when i got told i had been disqualified. very long story i wont bore yall with the details. My girl friend is an air force brat. So go ahead and mention your branch, any has a problem with it they can take it up with me, its all us armed services in the end.

my paladin will be a servant of iomadae so you'd fit in fine with him. Come on and join us on the light side, we have smite evils all around.

Goblin Squad Member

I grew up around Army mostly, some marines. My first Dungeon Master was a former Army Ranger, he got discharged because of a bullet to his spine.

In all of that, I ended up working for the USAF. I couldn't enlist either because of medical reasons, also after I filled out the paper.

I have a few friends that are going to be playing with, I'm hoping that they'll decide what they want to do before I join a group.

Goblin Squad Member

I'd like to march my little halfling fellow up for membership. Phil "the philanthropist" is his name. After some misadventures in his youth he has decided to lead the simpler life of a merchant and spend time helping his fellows. He's decided Peace Through Vigilance sounds like the perfect place for his talents. While his combat skills may be meager, he is eager to aid those who need it.

Goblin Squad Member

Good to have you Tracer--smiths and crafters are darn welcome in the call to fight evil!

Greetings Mbando. While my fellow Warden of Gold Hroderich Gottfrei has already introduced our Circle, I wanted to note that should the need arise our Keepers of the Circle Chancery is now open for any foreign envoys that might wish to parlay with us.

Erian El'ranelen, Warden of Gold, Keepers of the Circle

Goblin Squad Member

Hi Erian,

thanks for reaching out. Darsch is our company's Ambassador, and will make liaison with you. Looking forward to seeing you folks on the Crusader Road.

No problem at all. Come by and visit any time, we should have ample opportunity for discussions prior to launch.

Stopping by to thank Mbando for his recent interview for our second episode, and first community spotlight. The team was quick to note how well you framed your thoughts and how evenly you presented them.

No, it is just a group of characters I created over my 20ish years of TT D&D and decided were all related and from the same dwarven clan. LOL

We are yet to hear back on when you can do a retraction. Tonight is the last good night for that. Please PM us when you get a chance and we will do a revisit so both sides of the argument benefit from the newest information :)
