I have to agree with most of what's said here. I only played WoW for a short time during vanilla, before all the add ons showed up most likely (I got bored). But my friends played with them and it was hit or miss if they were good and didn't mess up gameplay. I'd rather not see add ons for in game, but if a barkeep wants to publish a menu or if someone wants to track auction house trends then I don't see a problem with this, it might even be useful to me to be able to look at things in the game that I will likely not be able to read in the client. I do find the idea of players exploring and reporting in game what occupies the hexes interesting, though.
This is great. Maybe if there's a show of interest by the disabled gamer community to GW, and Paizo, there will be more incentive for them to make it as accessible as possible. Chiassa - If that condition will persist after a tissue transplant, you might want to have a talk with your eye doctor, or a cornea specialist, about the artificial corneas they have now. I was slated to get one of these because I've had too many tissue transplants and my immune system is well aware that I don't have my own corneas anymore. Unfortunately my retina is in too bad of shape for it.
Could someone explain to me what Blue Blocking is? I've not heard this term before this thread. I also prefer keyboard use simply because I can't use a mouse. But would there not be a way to program it so that the mouse players can point and click, and the keyboard users get some hotkey that can target things like nearest enemy, nearest ally, etc. and still put into consideration the LoS factor, be it an obstacle or a line of armored fighters between you and your target?
Jack, Andius... Thanks for the prompt response. :) I'm not so much dead set on a settlement, though it does pose a number of challenges that would interest me in solving. Also, like stated, not even sure how the game is going to come out. I'm interested in joining up with you guys and contributing to the process.

I hadn't even thought about that. I'll have to look into doing that once I'm out of the whirlwind that is moving to another city. Thanks for mentioning it. ---- On the matter of clerics of a cause; I don't really see it far fetched for Pathfinder. Afterall, look at those on the present pantheon who are mortals risen to gods. They had to have strong enough faith in something that they were able to rise to that level, and get a portfolio of domains of their very own. Paladins not having a diety well... eh.. at that point wouldn't you be pretty similar to an Inquisitor? But I suppose they could have a knightly type or Bushido type of code that they believe in so deeply and are so devoted to, it could happen. Lastly, good point about Oracles.
My friends and I started talking about PFO while sitting at Denny's and we realized in the High Fantasy MMO's that we've played in, even DDO when we played, clerics and paladins don't have to choose a deity. I don't even remember doing this in Neverwinter Nights. With PFO, will there be deity and domain selections? I'd like to put my vote in for 'yes'. It would be cool if you got some sort of boon and/or unique spell selections based on your choices be you a cleric/paladin of Sarenrae or a cleric/paladin of Asmodeus.
I grew up around Army mostly, some marines. My first Dungeon Master was a former Army Ranger, he got discharged because of a bullet to his spine. In all of that, I ended up working for the USAF. I couldn't enlist either because of medical reasons, also after I filled out the paper. I have a few friends that are going to be playing with, I'm hoping that they'll decide what they want to do before I join a group.
I'll throw in my 2 cents here as a leader more than one occasion for online communities... The only hold you have on people to keep following you is what you're able to give them in what they feel they are getting out of the game. It's not like they're getting paid with real money to stick around. You need to be able to spot the players that have the dedication and the skillsets you want to delegate the stuff that you aren't so good at to. You need to be able to see, identify and solve problems as they arise. You need to be diplomatic with people and organizations outside of your sphere of influence (Unless you want to be a Military beast :p ). These are the things in my opinion can't be effected by a game mechanic or game skill. You, as a human, can still make bad choices... and at some point probably will. On the other hand, people are fickle when it comes to games. I do not think a skill should put a ceiling on a group's membership. For the more positive stuff, suggestions! -Treat PC settlements/kingdoms like the NPC factions (alignment restriction, reputation has to be earned.). From what I understand of the game so far, your actions will effect your alignment; so if you are tagged as a thief, murderer, breaking contracts, etc. chances are your alignment isn't going to be of the good persuasion. Also these kinds of people are likely to have bounties on them and I'm sure there will be a bounty board somewhere. Where reputation is concerned, they earn it by helping you out; collecting resources, clearing out pesky monsters, etc. -They have talked about the ability to upgrade structures... Maybe the structures themselves have the skills that come with upgrades, for example the quality of craft items that come out of a craft building, maybe a barracks can be a place to have the military arm of your group repair and/or heal up based on the upgrade. People can work for these priviledges through rep with the settlement/kingdom. -I do like the idea of being able to grant people in your settlement/kingdom titles, that perhaps can be customized, (i.e. Champion, Knight, Master Crafter, etc). These titles could grant a perk if desired, but still have to be worked for and maybe the members/leaders of that group have to agree to give it to that person. I think things can be made too troublesome for would be thieves without having to have a character spend time on another set of in game skills which only makes them a better leader within the perameters of the programming. I'd be interested to see what Goblin Works has to comment on this. :)
I hope everyone had a good and safe Christmas. GenCon is a little out of my budget, but I might try to shoot for PaizoCon. @ Keovar, Apophis1989... Have hope my friends. I have a friend in Daytona who is totally blind and he is a black belt, and instructor, of Brazillian Jujitsu. I also have dabbled in a few forms of martial arts myself, I fight with swords, participate in Live Action Roleplay, I craft chainmail from jewelery to armor, I've been doing PnP games since the days of 1st Ed D&D (and running games), just to name a few things I do despite not being able to see when I'm not playing MMO's. Either of you are free to drop me a PM if you want to chat. I've done a lot of reading on medical technology research around the world where fixing blindness is concerned. :)
MBando. I don't have a lot of solid character ideas yet as I'm watching the developement of the game to see where it goes, exspecially in the lore department. However, I am a fan of Iomadae and Knights of Ozum. So it is safe to say my character will have connections to both of those. :) Heheh all this Marines talk makes me worried over mentioning what branch I worked for. >.>
Keovar, nice to know I'm not the only one. Maybe with multiple voices GW will hear us. :) I have always been legally blind, but a few adjustments like text colors, text size and that sort of thing was enough. But a few years ago bad things started happening and I have almost no sight at all. I still play Lord of the Rings Online, the reason I was attracted to it was for the things you mentioned, I could play around with the text in the chats and floating names. I'm glad to know that PFO will have a lot less hotkeys to remember. In LOTRO I have to remember some 60-odd combinations in order to use all of my character's abilities in the game. I like the idea of PFO also because there's more to the game that I could get into other than massive raids and stuff where being able to see the screen is most beneficial.
