Grimmy |
From "Tales of the old Margreve"
It's not necessarily the horror vibe that I'm after, but something else about that adventure.
The way it was paced, the suspense... The mood... And the way the enemy was way to strong to engage directly but their was a way to stop it if you used every resource you could think of in just the right ingenious way.
The group I ran this for still talks about it, their introduction to pathfinder. Nothing has come close since.

I'm really glad you liked Hollow Grimmy, it's an adventure I enjoyed writing very much and when we ran it through at Paizocon UK it was a good change of pace for the players there I think.
Chuck and Greg are right, the Blight is on its way, it's a very moody and dark setting which I hope you'll look into.
Knock, knock...

“A stitched thing shambles through the night, the smog of the Canker caressing it. Hooded and covered, the thing’s head is too large for its body and it has to lean frequently against the dirt smeared brick walls of the Lyme and suck in air through broken lips. A stench like rotting vegetables and sugar surrounds it.
People move by in the smog, quietly and nervously going about their business, occasionally a cockroach crunches under their feet. Some travellers are rich enough to have linkboys, and a ghastly yellow pallor surrounds the conspirators as they flit like will-o-the-wisps through the poison air of the street.
The silence is suddenly stabbed by the sound of a carriage clattering along the cobbles – a child’s nightmare pulls the carriage yet no one seems to notice; it gulps the air as it lurches by - a slick black thing that hobbles spastically yet with great purpose..."

Pretty much everything we do will be S&W and PF both. This included. The only things that won't are Tsar (due to the prohibitive size of it and cost to produce a different version at this late date) and things that don't lend themselves well to conversion. Our new NPC book Unusual Suspects (coming out at PaizoCon!!!) would be useful for S&W because of all the background info, etc., but we won't release an S&W-only version because it takes about 5 minutes (if that) to cook up a good NPC stat block in S&W and doesn't justify a book all by itself (plus loses about half of its page count).
However, I can't imagine us doing an adventures other than Tsar and not making both versions.

Off topic... I can't find the lairs from ToH S&W. Do you have to buy the PF edition to get them or are they free for all? I had a link but it was dead.
We had those links on the Tsathogga Blog at talesofthefroggod.com for August 26, 2011, but the links appear to be dead now for some reason. I'll let Bill and Rachel know so we can get them up and running again.

It was both the lairs and the list of monsters by terrain that once existed on our site. Hopefully Blonde and the Frog God can locate them. Failing that, I am sure that Chuck still has them. We'll get them back up. Meanwhile here's a handy map to our waiting room... Map
