What magic item would you use to build a perpetual motion/infinite power generator? Here's some ideas to start:

zombie on a treadmill
decanter of endless water paddlewheel

Yay! I inspired something!

Only one of anything probably wouldn't accomplish much in the grand scheme, but if certain things could be replicated (as in more than one) I have a few ideas.

1) Item of @ will (constant and always on) lightning bolt or higher level lightning spell. Hook it up to the grid and a few transformers and done.

2) a few portals to demiplanes with the bountiful trait.

3) Decanter's of endless water for irrigation.

I'm sure there's more, but thats what comes to mind.

if it's one item only then I'd think we should be in Artifact territory.

A set of ring gates set up vertically from one another for the Portal infinite-fall loop?

You ever read Larry Niven's "Not Long Before the End"? The Warlock's Wheel is a perpetual-motion magic item. One you don't want to have around if you're a magician...

It was almost a perpetual-motion machine, anyway.
