Swashbuckler's Flying Blade Training = Weapon Training?

Rules Questions

For the feat Ricochet Toss (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/weapon-mastery-feats/ricochet-toss-weapon-ma stery), one of the prerequisites is "weapon training class feature with a ranged weapon."

The Flying Blade(http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/hybrid-classes/swashbuckler/archetype s/paizo---swashbuckler-archetypes/flying-blade), a Swashbuckler Archetype, has a feature called "Flying Blade Training," which replaces the Swashbuckler's "Swashbuckler Weapon Training." Both of these features work exactly like Weapon Training, with a couple of additions like a better crit range.

For the purposes of this feat, would Flying Blade Training count as Weapon Training for this feat?

FAQ

Sadly, per that FAQ, since neither ability references fighter Weapon Training in the text neither would count as it for pre-requisites.

Individual GMs may give different answers. Personally, I find that FAQ to essentially be saying 'it is random'. That is, a given author putting 'it works like Fighter Weapon Training' in the text could not have known that there would eventually be such a thing as Advanced Weapon Training AND that FAQ... they just happened to use that terminology for simplicity, while another author might have spelled it all out for clarity. As such, I'd rule that if it works the same then it IS the same... just restricted to the same weapons the base ability is.

Fighter gets a LOT better if you do this.

A lot of GMs will fix the problem with some of the older fighter archetypes by changing "you get [the same progression as weapon training] with [specific weapon group]" (e.g. Archer, Crossbowman) to "When you get weapon training, you have to choose [specific weapon group]" (like the Dragoon fighter).

The Swashbuckler's a trickier case since Swashbuckler's Weapon Training is actually a slightly improved (prior to the WMH) Weapon Training. But it is a hyrbid class so it's part fighter.

Regarding getting ricochet toss, if your GM won't sign off on it, you can still take the "Martial Focus" feat to qualify for Ricochet Toss.

Oh no!

Yeah, well, I play in Society, and all of my GMs use RAW almost religiously. :P So none for me until Paizo says so! Which means I either have to get a Blinkback Belt or Returning Daggers, neither of which are cheap. :(

Yeah, but in the case of swashbuckler, it isn't quite that random.

The FAQ likely grew out of people wanting to use gloves of dueling with the older fighter archetypes. Since both the FAQ and a clear gameplay incentive to want to count as weapon training exist (who can knock an untyped +2/+2 from gloves of dueling that stacks with everything and takes up an otherwise empty item slot?), they had plenty of basis to decide whether or not to have this count as weapon training.

And by the rules of the FAQ, since the swashbuckler stuff doesn't work with weapon groups (it genericly works on all light and one handed piercing weapons; so not weapon groups) or reference weapon training... it does not get to count as weapon training.

I can understand trying to salvage early fighter archetypes, but the swashbucker came after that was generally cleared up.
