Create Demiplane and the Entering Thereof

Rules Questions

So I was idly flipping through UM earlier, and this line gave me a bit of confusion.

When you finish casting this spell, you may bring yourself and up to seven other creatures to the plane automatically by joining hands in a circle.

Is this only do-able once, requiring plane shift afterward? Or can you shift over to the demiplane whenever you want using the holding-hands-circle method?

"When you finish casting this spell" indicates that you may do it at the end of the several hour casting time duration of the spell. Basically, it seems to be once and once only. Plane shift or a portal (via create demiplane, greater to get back and forth after this initial casting.

I suppose you could also cast create demiplane again for the sole purpose of getting back to your demiplane as well.

Plane Shift would be the go to method of choice. After all the possible drift of arrival point would be within a much smaller area. :)

We play that if you land outside the confines of the plane then Planeshift fails. How do other people handle that?

Edit: Also keeps people from planeshifting into bags of holding, portable holes, and the like.

Aren't bags of holding and the like non-dimensional spaces (rather than extra-dimensional spaces) and as such can't be reached by such means anyways? They aren't planes of existence or dimensions in their own right, after all.

We play that you land in the demiplane.

To the OP, you need some other form of magic to get back and forth between planes, as usual. Or you can use a permanent portal.

When Plane Shifting to a demiplane we always rule the spell brings you to the plane targeted as long as you have been there before. You can't use it to get to an enemy's demiplane when you've never seen it. Since most demiplanes are much smaller than the miss distance indicated by the spell, you'll just land closer to your intended destination, even if you are at the very edge of the demiplane.

Just to clarify: getting back from the demiplane is easy. You can simply eject yourself as a standard action. Plane shift or otherwise travel in, shunt yourself out.

Re: landing close to the destination: The concept of the very edge of a plane literally does not compute in my mind.

In regards to getting into someone elses demiplane, you don't actually need to have been there, you just need to have a tuning fork attuned to the demiplane. How we play it you have to be on the plane to attune a fork to it, but you can always just steal the fork your enemy uses when he planeshifts to his own demiplane.
