Elf Inquisitor

Advice

So for RP reasons I am designing an Elf inquisitor for my Oracle's Cohort.

I know Elf isn't the best race for Inquisitor, so that's why I come to ask, how would YOU build him?

Well, they're not the worst either, so don't fret. Inquisitors are really good at ranged combat, and elves are really good at ranged combat. I can't provide a lot of specific advice (not very familiar with the class) but you might want to capitalize on that. Plus focusing on archery means you can keep your companion a bit undergeared and not have to worry about it.

Have him focus on stealth

Then pop out yelling 'No one expects the Elvish inquisition!'

then have other players throw books at you.

That's how I'd do it. but I'm mostly a moron

There is a lot of question that you need to answer first, such as what type of oracle are you? What deity wep/domains are available to him? what is your roll in combat? out of combat? what is your party makeup? what level are you/him?

We are level 8

I'm a dark tapestry oracle designed for bad touch and some support. Out of combat he uses his spells and brain drain to gather info (though brain drain could very well put us in combat.)

We are in a unique world where I can probably access any domains since I have some freedom with deity, including weapons.

We have a Barbarian, sorcerer, rogue, and paladin focused on healing.

The cohort would obviously be level 6.

Being in the same game as KaptainKrunch, I can explain the circumstances a little bit more.

We all got the Leadership feat for free in this game, but the rule is that we generally can't take our cohorts or followers along with us on adventures. For the most part, they'll stay at home and manage our estates while we aren't there (we've all been given plots of land to develop).

So for the most part, the cohort's class and abilities are mostly for RP. That said, there may come up the occasional scenario where they do get to show off what they can do.

Kaptain, you should explain what you'll be doing with your land since that's where the cohort will spend most of his time.

This is awesome.

Liberty's Edge

Make him an archer. He's got the Dex for it, it's an expected Inquisitor role, and it's thematically appropriate. Make him a follower of a forest god and give him either the Animal (Feather) Domain, the Travel Domain, or the Conversion Inquisition (if you want a cohort who's god at social stuff, though you seem to have that covered so I wouldn't bother).

Grab high Wisdom (16 or so) and Dex (16-18), decent Strength (12-14) and Con (12 after Elf penalty), decent Int (12-14 after Elf bonus), dump Charisma (7-8).

For Feats take Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, and Rapid Shot, at 7th grab Deadly Aim (or, if he's got an Animal Companion, I reccomend a Tiger, grab Boon Companion).

Give him personal buff spells (and maybe some group buffs as well) and some condition removal to back up your Paladin. There, effective backup Archer and healer's assistant with Detect Alignment, Discern Lies and Bane when he feels like it. Possibly with animal companion tacked on.

Skill wise, max his Knowledge skills, Perception, Stealth (nobody expects him), and Survival. That makes him an excellent backup on monster lore, and good for scouting and tracking. Put a few ranks in Sense Motive (one rank gives him a +10) and maybe a rank or two in Intimidate, too, basically because why not, and he's even potentially useful socially.

Well if your looking for a guy that can chop the bad stuff to bits a 2H inquisitor isn't a bad choice. Either polearm if your going defensive for tripping and reach(keeping haste on him will be important for extra attacks), or a elven curve blade (although id go half elf and trade skill focus for ancestral arms for this setup) with its good crit range and great damage with power attack. Also, the travel domain is great for your friend to get around +10 movement and at 8th he will be able to teleport.
