Is it totally inconcievable for pistols to have reach? Meaning when someone gets to that 10ft mark incurring an attack of opportunity from the pistol wielder.
Edit: I mean for the advanced ones.
Maybe there could be a new feat or something that allows you to do it, like :
Feat Name : Prerequisite - Lightning Reflexes, Combat Reflexes, Snap Shot
Benifit - Treat a one handed range weapon as a melee reach weapon when interpreting attacks of opportunity.
Isn't that what the Snap Shot feat itself does?
No, I think snap shot only lets you threaten 5 feet, not 10 like the feat I'm talking about would.
So you want to take one of the most overpowered feats in the game...and make it better?
Oh wait, Improved Snap Shot already does that.

Wow. I always thought that Snap Shot only worked with bows, but now that I check it doesn't... Now I need to build a Barbarian hurler who snap shots boulders at people.
