Jotungrip + Two Bladed Sword

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

Simple question, sorry if I posted a question that was already asked, but I didn't find an answer in my searching.

Jotungrip - At 2nd level, a titan mauler may choose to wield a two-handed melee weapon in one hand with a –2 penalty on attack rolls while doing so. The weapon must be appropriately sized for her, and it is treated as one-handed when determining the effect of Power Attack, Strength bonus to damage, and the like.

So could I use Jotungrip to wield two two-bladed swords?

Yes but only as one handed weapons. You don't get to use them as double weapons

But you can already one-hand a double weapon as a single weapon. I don't see the problem with allowing TWF with a double weapon wielded in a single hand by a barbarian with Jotungrip. Having a second two-bladed sword wielded in the other hand isn't all that useful, though. It doesn't give you any extra attacks. The rules for two-weapon fighting restricts the number of bonus attacks you get, not how many weapons you hold. The rules for double weapons do explicitly state that you can only use one side of them per round if held in one hand, but if you want to take the Jotungrip penalties on top of the TWF penalties, I don't see it especially imbalancing to use it as if held in two hands.

Hehe, double weapon with a shield. You crazy barbarian archetypes.

Double: You can use a double weapon to fight as if fighting with two weapons, but if you do, you incur all the normal attack penalties associated with fighting with two weapons, just as if you were using a one-handed weapon and a light weapon. You can choose to wield one end of a double weapon two-handed, but it cannot be used as a double weapon when wielded in this way—only one end of the weapon can be used in any given round.

Yes, you could use it to wield a two bladed sword in one hand. However, you could only attack with one end of it since that is the normal rules.

Actually, he is choosing to wield it exclusively one-handedly. Which isn't covered by the double weapon rules.

No, he treating a 2H weapon as 1H for the purposes of grip, any restrictions that applied to the 2H version still apply, but you only get 1x Str to damage.

Regardless you still couldn't take your offhand attacks with the same appendage you took the primary (which was paired at that BAB) by RAW.

That's what I figured. And yes, I was going to attempt to do titan mauler/vivisectionist and get my eight attacks with sneak >_>

Thanks for the help.
