I feel the need for a GM's screen, and I want the type with all the rules refrences printed on to the back. However, I just shelled out for some rulebooks, and I can't spend any more money right now. So, no buying a professional screen. I'll have to make my own screen by hand. Sure, it won't look shiny and artistic, but it will have whatever rules refrences I want on it, since I'll be writing them all.
That brings up the question of what refrences you guys would recommend. I've never owned a GM's screen, so I don't know which refrences are most useful.

A lot of this.
Is every single part essential? I am going to be writing all of this out by hand.

My friend gave me "The world's greatest GM screen" as a gift a couple of years ago. It is a Quad fold screen with pockets that you can put your information in. Once you have one of those, you can easily type up and replace your reference info as needed.

Highly recommended for what you want to do.

I just can't put out any money after my recent rulebook purchases, so no world's best GM screen for me. I've got access to cardboard boxes rescued from recycling, binder paper, scissors, and tape. That'll be how my GM's screen is made. The remaining carboard will go to battlemats and tokens to represent characters and monsters.
