It wouldn't be a Shanosuke recruitment without a Post or two from Roidrage! I am intresting since I was just freed up from another game ,*wink* *wink**nudge*nudge*say no more, but will have my application up sometime this week. Btw all Shanosuke is a great pbp dm and I always have fun in his games.

The following are brief outlines of the cultures of the races within each nation. This is only a summery outline. Honestly there are paragraphs and paragraphs of info about each region and how people respond. This is only to give a surface of the water idea as to what things are like in each nation.

Galoman Culture:

Galoman generally don’t care about the wellbeing of others. Their society is built on preservation of self and only during war time is there any teamwork. The Humans and the Galoman that live together have a fragile symbiotic alliance. The Galo protect the humans and the humans provide for them. The system of Galo leadership is hard to understand. The strongest sits on top but in the end, each Galo does as he pleases. All for self preservation.

Galoman Humans:

The culture of humans that live under the rule of the Galomen. Everyone does their part and keeps their noses clean. The Galomen frown on any form of violence by lesser beings. The Galo territory is considered the safest territory to live. Bandits are put down promptly and brutally. In spite of this, the humans don’t like the do it yourself attitude of the Galomen. A vast majority of the people who live under the Galo leadership would not be bothered if the Galomen were removed.

Hogan Culture:

The Hogan are a bunch of nature loving warriors. They enjoy living life difficultly. They have a lot in common with the Galomen aside from the fact they help each other out when needed. Hogan live in a society that constantly tests itself in ways of strength. Even the government is decided every four years by a tournament to name a new king. The Hogan love a challenge.

Zaloes:

The Zaloes live in a society built on a magic based hierarchy. The Zaloes empire is ruled by one of the most powerful spellcasters in the whole continent. Magic ability is the ONLY respected in Zaloes territory. Other skills and abilities mean nothing. Your rank in the society is decided by how many spells you can cast and how powerful they are. Your rank in the military is measured by your ability to balance magic and combat. If you are not capable of even a little magic, then you’re a nobody worthy of nothing more than meager jobs and paying taxes.

Kithikin:

The Kithikin live in a society of secrecy. The leadership isn’t even known to all members of the society. They dwell in a swamp and their families consist of large groups of Kithikin known as pods. Kithikin are trained in stealth and secrecy at an early age. Kithikin sent to serve in the Human societies they have claimed have less requirement for stealth though they often snoop around regardless. The Chief representative and the psudo leader of the Kithikin nation is Kanakun. He call the shots to the humans of their territory. All Kithikin serve to preserve the brood.

Kithikin Humans:

Humans living in the lands controlled by the Kithikin are constantly looking over their shoulders. The Kithikin are constantly looking into the lives of the people living in their territory. The creepy little creatures are always watching. Humans live their lives according to the rules laid down by the Kithikin but there is no privacy. Always do what you do as if someone is watching you.

Kotozawa:

This culture is easy. The land is ruled by a Shogun and follows the typical settings of ancient Japan. Samurai rule and merchants try to get ahead also.

Xaodia:

This culture has undergone a shock ten years ago. Originally it was run like the ancient china but now the kingdom is ruled by a woman. An empress has come into power. In a world run by men, having a woman on top is insulting and difficult to live with. Ten years under her fair rulership have mixed results among her people. She is able to get things done and has change a lot of things. Has also made a lot of enemies in high places though. Most people of Xaodia are very philosophical and artistic. Even the warriors.

Covenant:

This land is ruled by Lucifer. Has been for many centuries. All people have come to accept Lucifer as a god. Even Lucifer himself believes it. However, not everyone likes him. He enforces strict rules on how people should live and his crusaders correct those who disagree. It is a hard life to be unique. Always keep your head down and do as everyone does. Worship Lucifer.

Lineage:

Mixing pot of cultures under one banner. The old empire has the most freedom in culture and beliefs of any culture. You are free to be what you want in this land under the benevolent rule of Kender Garrison.

Connisaire:

A Culture of nerds. People who value knowledge have a lot of power in this culture. The people of the Connisaire value knowledge and discovery so much that they will do anything and sacrifice anything to gain knowledge and do nothing. They enslave their population to peruse greater knowledge. They created the Gaudar.

Gaudar:

The Gaudar are the “slaves” of the Connisaire. The Connisaire created them to serve the manual labor and law enforcement. The Gaudar rebelled a while back but the intelligent leaders of the Connisaire had manipulated the Gaudar in believing they were equals and would be given a fair place in society. Nothing has change. Gaudar still do all the difficult task for the Connisaire while they continue to indulge in their pursuit of knowledge. The only difference, The Gaudar aren’t called slaves anymore. They are right hand of the Connisaire……with no benefits.

Saudri:

The Saudri are nomadic and tribal. The emphasis in their community is on survival and teamwork. Tribes move around from place to place as determined by a yearly meeting of the tribal leaders at their nations capital. Recently the moot agreed it was time to push north. Wandering, survival, and teamwork are how these people live. They value every blessing they receive.

You can use this information to refine your backstories and character builds. I appreciate your patience. Getting this campaign started is usually the tricky part. But once we get going it will be an easy ride.

Backstory:

"Hey, wait up lad! We'll be at the camp soon enough!"

Haytham fired a grin back to his patrol leader, but barely slowed a jot as he approached the familiar walls of the capital city. Just days ago, while on yet another routine patrol about the northen routes, a messenger bird had arrived with orders to return immediately, and for him specifically to report to the tribal council!

The idea that a no-name border-watch and occassional bird-handler would most likely be in severe trouble to be called by the tribal leaders hadn't quite sunk in, should Vandrik's near euphoria was maintained as he waited antsly for the rest of his unit by the gateway to the city, and was first out the door after their report and debriefing at the garrison. Vandrik took in a breathe, smiled, and began to step forward when a flurry of feathers exploded in his face.

"Hey, hey, calm down now Sa'dia! How's the leg coming along?" he laughed good-naturedly, as the small hawk obediantly settled on his arm a presented a slightly crooked leg. "Hmm, should be good as new in a few weeks or so. Don't suppose you feel like hanging around then, do you? Got an important meeting coming up, so you'd have to dress to impress."

Sa'dia squawked and began preening her wingtips as Vandrik made hs way to the Council's Tent, occasionally picking at his loosening braids, to Haytham's good natured annoyance. All was well until a shape in the shadows of a tent had him near to drawing his bow, only to reveal itself to be a stray cat. Haytham sighed, then took a few more deep breaths. 'Focus on this.' Vandrik thought as he took as second to brush the worst of the dust from his cloak and check Tempest for signs of disarray. 'You're back home, you've got a great opportunity in front of you, and Sa'dia is healing along nicely. That's real. Not red glowing eyes, and whispers in the dark, and...things...'

Haytham shuddered, and composed himself into the image of a forthright Sandri youth. This was his shot; he'd best make it good.

I also didn't buy any equipment, but likely purchases would be a longbow, a khopesh and kukri for weapons, armored coat for armor, and basic equipment for himself and his companion. Let me know if there's anything else you need!

I will be going over applications this weekend. I will leave recruitment open up until I chose my team. This may take a couple of days but I want to be fair, though I don't have many options. We'll see how this goes down.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I dislike a requirement to provide an extensive background and complete character just to apply to a pbp.

The GM is asking me for hours of time invested with no guarantee of a return.

There are stocks in swamp land that provide better investments.

Good luck to all that apply.

I could be one of those GMs that makes you roleplay to get a spot.

Way I see it, I need to know who I am taking on. The best characters for the world. I as a GM spend FAR more hours writing out all this material so you players can enjoy a game.

I too am investing much into my players. Since I will be doing all the work from this point on, it is fair that I have players I can enjoy running. I want the most interesting characters in my game.

Also, I personally like to use extended backgrounds in game. I often enjoy the creativety of my applicants and will often use their backstories in game to give them a personal stake in the main plot.

As a hardworking GM, I deserve a choice in who my players will be. If you cannot agree to that then you need not join. Good day.

I actually prefer a decent background as application, I still like doing the crunch too but it does suck a lot if you make a tailored character and you don't get it. But we know the risk so no need to complain in this thread really.

In time to edit my post, updated!

Mankur's background:
Kithkur found himself left and orphaned at a small age in Hogan lands. He was smaller than his human counterparts, and his time in the orphanage taught him the value of survival. Others were adopted, but no one wanted the nonhuman runt with the eery stare.

Mankur quickly embraced the Hogan desire for competition. He learned to compensate for his smaller size with a cunning use of his abilities and competed in the constant parade of martial arts tournaments. His prowess built more resentment among his peers than the acceptance and admiration he craved. This just inspired him to be a better and better total body weapon.

Mankur crunch:
Level 1 Fenine Monk (archetype TBD) ST=14; DX=14; WI=19; CH=15; IN=8; CO=7 Feat=toughness to make up for CON

RP objectives - Mankur is a perfectionist honing his craft at unarmed combat. His primary objective is to be accepted by a group for his own merit.

Okay I am starting my reviewing of characters now. Given my options though, I don't think I will have much to choose from.

Ouch.

+1

Okay I will have things ready to go either tomorrow night or the following morning.
I would like to know, who still wants to play?

Well I'm still here.

I do get the feeling you yourself aren't too keen on running this anymore(I understand though).

I'm in a few games now so I wouldn't mind not playing but I'm still interested. I like your homebrew, very different from what I've played so far so. Up to you really.

I'd echo the above; I'd say only start it if you really want to start it.

My deepest apologies for the sudden absence. Last week and this weekend were insanely busy for me. I had enough personal time to eat and sleep, and then back to balls to the wall speed. I will try my hardest to get a character today or tommorrow.

I like a requirment to provide an extensive background and its GMs who require those who keep me playing this game. No one is forcing you to play and if you are not going to your post was not required in the first place. Goodbye troll.

I am in.

Silver Crusade

I'm definitely still interested, as well.

After much consideration I have decided not to run this campaign. Nothing against you guys but the turnout was less then satisfactory.

Also there is a lot of material to go though that serves my live group just fine but probably make things difficult for online play.

This endeavour was a stretch on my part and I don't believe I can deliver. Sorry for wasting your time.

I will be opening a recruitment for a simpler campaign soon. One set in Golorion that will be much easier to present and run. This way everyone already has everything they need to know. If any of you shows up in recruitment I will give you special consideration.

It is called, Adventures in Underworld: Xansious Crystal.
Keep an eye out for it.

Again I apologize for wasting your time.

Sounds like you made a good decision. Anyone needing a home, my elves team needs recruits in my elves versus dwarves thread. It is homebrew core only 15 pt build.

No worries here, man. I can appreciate the considerable investment that such a game would be. I look forward to your next recruitment.

no problem, probably a good call

Damn. I found this thread too late. I'm new to the Online Campaign boards. Loved the world concept. I will definetly keep an eye out for the Xansious Crystal.
