I took a long time to make it to DVD, but there is a set out there. Great stuff.
The TV show I thought had a great cast, but it seemed they didn't own the full rights to all the characters, Only Tick and Arthur, or any of the stories or villians. They had no budget for special effects (or apparently writers) and so went for raunchy humor. Not at all what the Tick was about.
Batmanuel I thought was a good twist if you didn't have the rights to Die Fledermaus. But the floozy they had on the show was a very poor substitute for American Maid

Full of great lines and quotes:
'Not in the face. Not in the face.'
'Homer. The Iliad.Read a book!'
'Like a great blue salmon of justice, the mighty Tick courses upstream to the very spawning grounds of Evil.'
And I recall a great line from Der Fleudermous when he confronts bad guys on the roof being something like 'What dark denizens dare enter my domain' And then they kicked his butt.
So many more. A fantastic cartoon.

Still the best set of lines and a trope name in itself.
The Forehead: Wait a minute... Something smells fishy here. I don't think you guys are villains!
The Tick: Oh no, we're- We're bad!
Arthur: Yeah, the worst!
The Forehead: Okay, if you guys are so evil, why don't you just... Eat this kitten!

Don't know. Apparently the reason it's vague is because they don't want to publicly discuss it while legal proceedings are still going on. Though one site I read cited the Mole Men episode as being the "weakest" of the season. I disagree.
"Aaah! Our eyes! Our overdeveloped, subterranean eyes!"
Copyright issues with the Galactus parody in "Alone Together" would be a reasonable guess. (Though, seeing as that was far from the most blatant parody they did, it's odd to think that was the step too far for Marvel...)
As far as the Mole Men... maybe Cindy Crawford doesn't have a sense of humor?
And I agree that episode is far from the worst.
Mole King: Why live up here on the crust when you can be with me in the soily filling of the sweet earth pie?
Larry: Better than it sounds!

That was brought up as a common rumor in one article I read, but they didn't seem to think it was the case. Perhaps the problems with both episodes come from the same source? Mole men are like wise featured in Marvel comics...

Considering that Satire laws are very clear, and that the show was built on parody and satire, Marvel really doesn't have a leg to stand on in prohibiting the release of the episodes.
What I want to know is... Has anyone in the US actually gotten more than Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD? The Tick Vs. Season 3 hasn't been released outside the UK, to the best of my knowledge. :(
