I have a PC that is interested in harvesting materials (glands, blood, etc.) from the many animals and monsters they encounter. What profession would that fall under?
I've been wracking my brain for the fauna equivalent of the herbalist but taxidermist is the closest thing I can come up with and that doesn't really cover it.
Any ideas?
I'd call it profession: butcher. However, you could just tie it into either knowledge: nature or, my preference, survival.
Survival to clean the animal and harvest the parts.
Knowledge(insert appropriate type per monster) to know what is worth harvesting.
What is wrong with Survival? Hunting is right there in the entry.
DC10: Get along in the wild. Move up to half your overland speed while hunting and foraging (no food or water supplies needed). You can provide food and water for one other person for every 2 points by which your check result exceeds 10.
I'd think that if he's wanting them for magic purposes, knowledge arcana would do it for knowing what's useful.
