Trap Spotter Effectiveness

Hey folks, so I'm running a Rogue in PFS and was browsing Rogue Talents & feats for my build as a Scout Archtype. My question is: how effective is the Trap Spotter Rogue Talent in PFS?

My character is a bit of a clutz and often does whatever the party tells him to do. If he's told to open a door he might just go ahead and open it with to hell with the consequences (much to everyone's amusement). But so far, any dangerous trap has been easily seen on the map or by DM description, and those that have actually gotten me have been things like Prestidigitation traps, or Create Water. I'm only just level 3 and Ive only been in 2 modules which even had traps.

I think Trapspotter is more a GM's (and every player who isn't playing a rogue) friend than the rogue's themself. Why? Because then the game doesn't boil down into searching every 5 foot square with dice rolls ad nauseum. It essentially allows you a passive perception check vs. traps whenever you get within 10' of a trap.

I run a Trapsmith Rogue with Trapfinding. I find it runs the gauntlet on what he can and can't do - depending a large amount on the Judge and how he views traps (and "Search" etc.). If you play with the same judge/group most of the time, you will likely be more effective to your party. Also, I try to have the Judge roll the Perception checks I get from Trapfinding - and never worry about them, for normal (active) Perception checks (looking for traps etc) I try to "take 10", if the judge allows it - thus I get two rolls, one average (T10) and the other rolled by the Judge (LOL! this protects me from my dice!)

I have a rogue scout, with trapspotter. I think it is a great rogue talent. It is nice to say you have a rogue/scout and have a chance to get those traps. I think it is one of the best talents for a rogue to grab.

I will say having played a couple mods it is nice to find traps, while failing your active peception check. My rogue has a low Wis, so a second chance is great for him, or better a first chance if I am moving around in combat.

Ultimately, this is one of the things I specifically ask a group with a rogue everytime I GM at a table.

That said, while playing any scenarios, with a character other my rogue. I cringe when we don't have a rogue, or I end up finding each and every trap the hard way.
