11th Level Rogue

Advice

Ok at last nights gaming table I came to a sad conclusion, my rogue is insanely squishy!

My Fort/Ref/Will saves are 5/14/5 and that is with Iron Will at level 11. We had this spider creature attack me and hit me with its bite. The effect of the bite is 1d6 str damage for 6 consecutive rounds. If my str ever hit 0 I am dead.

The save for it was 24 which means I need to roll a natural 19 to save. I was just looking at the cr 10 monsters in the beastiary and they all have double digits in every single save category. What the heck did I do wrong?

1. Make sure you don't have negatives to Con or Wis if you care about the saves.

2. Get and upgrade a Cloak of Resistance.

3. Feats and/or Traits to improve saves.

4. Play a Superstitious Barbarian, Paladin, or a Monk instead?? I dunno after the first three.

The Exchange

It's also worthwhile to bug your caster buddies to raise your saves. A rogue's part of a team, almost by definition, and every benefit you get from bear's endurance or magic circle against evil is a wedge against those kind of ugly situations.

Yeah, I have Iron Will. Looks like Improved Iron Will is on the menu next. Egad, remember the days when a ring of protection gave you +s to your saves too? Guess I gotta beg the DM for a cloak of resistence.

Rogues always have trouble with their saves (except REF). Thing is you don't really notice too much at early levels because enemies have low DCs. Then it suddenly hits you at somewhat later levels (8+). So yeah, get that cloak man and any time you plan a rogue, try to get one early.
