Antipaladin, Knight of the Sepulcher Archetype and Touch of Corruption

Rules Questions

Hello everyone

Recently I made an Antipaladin Character that follows the Knight of the Sepulcher Archetype. On level 5 this Archetype allows the Antipaladin to basically count as undead (only) for the purpose of receiving Positive or Negative Energy. This means that Positive Energy (Positive Channel for instance) harms the antipaladin and Negative cures him.

An Antipaladin though has the Touch of Corruption that deals negative energy damage. With this Archetype Ability, this now heals him. On the book it says that to use this ability you have to take a standard action.

BUT

On the exactly similar ability of the Paladin, it says the same if he is to use it on someone else, and a Swift Action if the Paladin is to use it on himself.

My question is...does the Antipaladin use Touch of Corruption on himself as a swift action just like the Paladin does, since it's basically the "same" ability?

Thank you

Silver Crusade

My assumption always was that the swift action in Lay on Hands was because it's easier to reach yourself in the middle of combat than another ally - reaching out to touch someone dodging and trading blows is significantly different from moving your hand inward for a split second. So, yes, I would say using Touch of Corruption on yourself would be a swift action.

Liberty's Edge

By RAW it is still a standard action. I believe RAI would let you heal yourself as a swift action, even as an anti-paladin.

Thank you for your answers, that's what I thought as well. What is RAW and RAI though?

Lovely :) Thanks!

I'd like to followup, with a question:

1. First when you channel energy, you have to chose whether you want it to affect undead or living.

2. The knight of Sepulcher actas if undead for positive/negative effects. A cleric faces him/her. An evil cleric would see him as human (or whatever), unless theynew it was undead (because he isnt actually undead yet. Evil cleric uses channel negative energy on them, chosing to affect living creatures: no effect, because in this case it doesnt heal or hurt because they would have to choose to affect undead.

3. conversely, when I as the antipaladin knight of the sepulcher use my own channel negative energy, i have to also chose undead or living... and if i chose living, i harm the living but dont heal myself. Is that correct?

That's correct. And if you decide to heal undead, you heal yourself.
